It was a long winter night. The snow had gotten everywhere in the land but the people of the village handled it well. Bakeries where selling hot chocolate and the usual hot bread. All was well other then the fact that the country was plagued by war. A lonesome woman had gotten a idea and decided to take a stroll. She passed bakeries, libraries and painters who tried their best to compete with the hard environment before she had gotten to the forest. Her vision was drawn to the lake that wasn't frozen weirdly and the mossy bridge that stood tall. It was little and in poor condition but it looked like it could support her weight and another. She slowly stepped on the mossy wood. The creaking sound and the wetness of the moss made it kind of soothing yet scary to keep moving forward. She looked around and suddenly heard a loud screech. It sounded like millions of men, woman and children screaming at the same time. She suddenly fell to the floor and held her head. Her body shivering and trying to get up before falling again. She slowly stood up. Her emerald green eyes slightly glowing because of the shine of the moon. She looks around and pauses as she saw two silver eyes staring directly at hers. She stepped away a bit and asked, "what is this place?".

A loud laugh emerges as she asked that before it stops and a smooth and gentle voice says, "It is not what this place that worries you, it is what you are doing here that concerns thee". She fixed herself to look as if she was not afraid when actually she was. She looks at the pair of silver eyes, mesmerized by their shinning glow. It made her feel as if she was at peace before she snaps out of it and asked, "what are you?"

A low chuckle as if a whisper of one escapes the shadows that covered the pair of eyes. It moved closer and she backs away before it says," well that's a stupid question, you already know the answer to this." It said as it walks closer to her. A figure in a black suit and hat coming from the shadows and yet its face could not be seen still. It smiles softly and says, "I am what you seek or better yet the one who will help you achieve what you wish to gain back."

She walks to it now and asked, "You're the spirit of the lake aren't you?" she asked only to be stopped by his gentle finger on her lips. He looks into her eyes and whispers in her ear, "Too many questions go along now and return tomorrow at night"

She had woken up after he had put his finger away as if he had put her to sleep. She ran back at night like he said and this time did not step on the bridge. He appears behind her and says," smart and pretty, two things I like a lot on a woman." He held her hand and walks her to the bridge. She scold at him and says, "Answer my question" she demanded with a serious tone. He chuckles and mimics her demanding posture before saying, "I am the spirit you seek, and the one if pure of heart will give you what you desire."

She smiled and was about to talk but he stops her again, "why the rush?" he asked as he sat down, "I must determine if you are truly pure of heart" he said looking up at her. She groans at that but when he seemed to be prepared to leave she stops and begs for him to stay. He chuckles weakly and smiles, "Begging is one of the best forms of flattery." He said as he watches her. She sighs and starts talking about herself. Her name was Maria and she was a teacher. She teaches to the younger generation in the village she lived in. Her family consisted of two brothers and three sisters. She is the youngest of the many siblings. She is a very good cook and writer. The spirit listened to this and nods before he asked," what lead you here? Why are you here exactly?"

She sits down and sigh softly. Memories haunting her and nobody would listen. Maybe he would. Maybe this spirit will cleanse her from her torments and gives her true peace. She starts speaking of the war that plagued the land. He knew of it well. Two kingdoms having a pissing match on who gets control of the land not truly caring in what condition it will be in after it's all over. She spoke of her big brother, the kindness and nicest man she has ever met. He always took care of her. Not like her parents who abused on her. She always enjoyed lying in his arms at night time. His warm arms around her. Making her feel same.
