Nature sends Her treasuries of snow;
Blanketing the earth in silence deep;
Her work is always perfect, timely, slow;
Winter secrets She will safely keep;
Over many eons snow is frozen;
These glaciers now begin their downward drift;
In Nature's wisdom granite now is chosen;
From which She will create a "climber's gift";
Granite-sculpting is a skill sublime;
An art She has perfected in this place;
With diligence and patience over time;
Her "gift" emerges with its granite face;
The stately statues found in ancient Rome;
Are thought to be a very priceless treasure;
Yet none can match the masterpiece Half Dome;
With splendor, grandeur, beauty, as the measure;
Through summer days with sunny scenes;
Half Dome gleams beneath a sky of blue;
A silver backdrop for the evergreens;
Inspiring awe and challenge ever new;
