Mai shook Jayd awake.
"Jayd? I need to tell you something!" she said.
"Yes?" he replied somewhat groggily.
"Look." He did, and instantly regretted it. Her stomach was rounded and electric green.
"What happened?'
"I found a injector in the bag I brought back from my capture. It had their venom in it. That's why they let me go. They knew I would die anyways. And I think, because of what happened last night, it sped up whatever process was supposed to happen. It might affect the baby"
"...You're...pregnant?"
"And, um, I think, going into labour."
"WHAT?"
Less than half an hour later, a baby was born. Well, not a baby. An egg sac.
"She's so...beautiful," whispered Mai. The green around her stomach had not gone away. In fact, it had spread. By the time Jayd realized this, it was too late. Mai was gone.
Jayd wept. He cried for her. But he knew he needed to do something about the eggs. Suddenly, he thought of an idea. He ran with it to the Flight station. The baby is going to Earth. He named her appropriately. He named her Quita.
