Chapter 4: The Dog Want's To Kill Me
Dominic's POV:
I walk outside the Café, I knew I would have to get a new car, but never this soon. I called Brett to come get me. I can't let her see me get near that truck. I see another patrol car pulling in, Brett behind it. He pull's up beside me and I get in.
"You got lucky man," He say's, watching the police as we drive right by them.
"Whatever, let's just get out of here," I respond.
-----Three day's later-----
I grab my wallet off of the table and get Austin's keys. The police went through my truck, then had it repossessed. I don't keep anything that can be used as evidence in my truck, just in case something like that were to happen... which it did.
Brad is sitting on the couch with Sandy at his side. They're the most unlikley couple. I expected Austin over Brad.
"See ya Austin, I'm taking your Jeep!" I yell, before slamming the door so he doesn't have time to protest. Austin has a black Jeep, which is what I plan to get next, but instead of black, I'll get blue.
I had Brad, who happens to be the computer nerd, to find where Taylor's house is. I know, stalkerish, but I have an idea.
After I get a distance from her house, which happens to be in the country with hardly any neighbors, I cut the Jeep off. I get out and open the hood, pulling a plug out, it can easily be fixed, but the Jeep won't run while it's out.
I start walking towards her house. She has a nice two story home that's not too big, yet not too small. She has a few horses out back, and a German Shepard sitting on the porch. The dog spots me and starts growling. I think this is proof a dog can sniff out a bad person.
She then begins to bark, which apparently get's Taylor's attention because she opens the door and see's me. She look's confused for a second, then grabs the dog by the collar, pulling her inside. She continues to bark, so Taylor shouts, "Luna! Shut up!" Slamming the door shut.
She then turn's to me and say's, "Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Well, I broke down not far from here, I guess it was coincidence," I lie, admiring her home.
I notice she's wearing a plain white shirt, blue jeans, and riding boots.
"I can take a look at it if you want, I fix the car's at the office all the time," She say's.
"Oh, no, that's fine, I already know what the problem is. I'm having a friend of mine come pick me up, but he won't be here for a few hours. Is it alright if I hang out here until he gets back?" I ask.
She looks hesitant at first, switching her weight on her feet, but motions for me to come in. It's a beautiful home, just about every room in sight is large, it's a mix of country and city. Everything about it is welcoming... except for the dog who currently want's to kill me.
The dog, Luna, sit's on the couch growling at me while baring her teeth.
"Quit, Luna!" Taylor commands. The dog stops, but still glares at me.
I swear that dog would kill me if she could.
"Can I get you something to drink?" Taylor offers.
"Water, please?" I respond.
She nod's and rounds the corner to walk to the kitchen. As soon as she is out of sight, the dog starts up again. I growl back, getting irritated. Childish, I know, but really?
This only makes her bark and stand up on the couch. Taylor comes back with a glass and hands it to me. She then walks up to the dog, grabbing her collar and shoving her out the front door. She roll's her eyes and say's, "Sorry, she doesn't usually do that,"
"It's alright, she's just protecting you," I reply. She just nod's her head. She take's her boots off and says, "I'm gonna go change, take a seat," I nod and walk to the couch.
"And don't steal anything." She yells from down the hallway. It may have been a joke, but I could hear the seriousness behind it.
As soon as I sit down, I get a text from Brett.
Brett:
Boss wants to schedule a meeting with u. I'd be careful, he doesn't seem too happy.
Aiden. I've always hated the man since the day I put my signature on that contract. Ever since then, he pretty much owns us. Let's just say I didn't read the fine print. He tells us where to go, what bank to hit, and when. He get's fifty percent of the profit made from every job. The number one rule is no love, as in don't get attached. We have never found out what happens when we do get attached because no one dares to play that game. But I'm pretty sure it's not good.
I told Brett to make the meeting for next weekend, of course, if that's ok with the boss. I hate saying that, but were not aloud to project his real name.
If he finds out about Taylor, I don't know what I'll do. All I can do is hope the meeting isn't about her.
