Chapter 12: You Can't Control Me
Dominic's POV:
I couldn't help but stare at my beautiful Mate. She's solid white with Silver tipped ears, tail, and paws. Not gray, silver. She, well, her Wolf, has deep blue eyes to top it all off, she's just gorgeous. She is also very large, almost as big as me. She once again try's to stand, and stumbles a little, but this time makes it to her feet and keeps steady. She starts to walk forward and actually makes it, even if it does look funny. Everyone is watching their new Luna. Including Brad, who we found at the safe house waiting for us when we got back from searching. He had been injured and had to heal before he finally made it.
I send her a mind-link, which I told her about on the day I brought her to the safe house. I told her pretty much everything, but I left out the parts about us being Mates. 'Your doing good.' I tell her.
She looks back at me and gives a Wolfish grin. Then she stares at me.
She can smell me, she knows were Mates.
-----Taylor's POV-----
His scent was amazing. It smelt like cinnamon and strawberries. I didn't know what to think, I'm not so sure I want this, I was pretty much shoved into it. For now I want to try to ignore this, I want time to think everything over. I simply turn around and continue walking as if nothing happened. I pick up speed and start running. I suddenly notice there is seven of us, 'You found him,' I say to Nick through a mind-link.
'He was waiting for us at the house. He was injured and had to take time to heal before he could make his way back,' He replies.
'Good. How do I shift back?' I ask.
'Just picture yourself in human form, it may hurt a little when you shift because it's only your second time,' He warns me.
I do as he say's and I start to feel my bones pop, kind of like when you pop your back, but I feel it everywhere. I whimper a little bit, but it's not as painful as I thought it would be. I now stand back in my human form.
"My clothes are still in tack." I note aloud.
"Yeah, Sandy has some special made clothes. You're wearing a pair, so don't get used to it." Dominic replies.
I nod in response.
"Come on, we need to get home, it's five in the morning," Grant say's, then shifts and starts running.
Everyone else does the same, so I do as well. We start running, but it takes me a while to pick up speed. It's kind of embarrassing because I keep stumbling here and there. After about ten minutes, we make it back to the house. I go straight to my room and pass out as soon as my head hits the pillow.
I wake up and look around. No one's in the room, I would have expected to see Nick or something. The smell of bacon hit's me and that's enough to have me jumping out of the bed. When I walk into the living room, I see the clock. It's three in the afternoon. Oh well.
I go to the kitchen and see Sandy cooking.
"Need some help?" I ask.
She jumps at my voice and turns around, "Oh, sure,"
I go to the cabinets and pull out some pancake mix. I pour some in a bowl, mix the water in, and just a little butter for flavor.
"It's finally nice to have a girl to talk to. I've been with these idiots for too long," Sandy say's.
I laugh a little at her comment and reply, "Actually, I only have one girl friend, well, two now. Most of my friends are guys, like from the office or just old friends growing up. Most girl's are too much drama,"
"Yeah, the only friends I keep in touch with are the guy's here, I'm kind of limited on who I talk to," She say's. It must be that Aiden guy Dominic was talking about. I don't know why it took this long for the question to dawn on me, but it just did.
"Why is he after me?" I question. I remember Nick told me not to say his name out loud. She suddenly get's quiet. I patiently wait for her reply while I pour the batter into the pan.
"It's a long story, really. You should probably talk to Nick about it," She say's.
I nod my head. Understandable.
"Hey, just out of random, what's Dominic's last name?" I question.
"Deleon," She replies.
Deleon, I've never heard that before.
"Oh, and he told me to tell you he went out for a bit. He's going to the store to pick some things up. There's not much here," She say's.
I just hum in response. I don't understand why I'm a target, what did I do? My thought's are interrupted when Luna whines from beside me. She hasn't eaten since yesterday, so I give her two pancakes and a piece of bacon until Nick can get back.
"How many do I fix?" I ask.
"Eighteen and add however many you want," She says, I'm down to twelve, so I only have six to go.
-----
All of us have eaten breakfast already and Nick still isn't back. I saved his plate and put it in the microwave so it wouldn't be as cold. He suddenly walks in with bags in hand, but he looks shaken up.
I get up to help him and ask, "You alright?" He just nod's and walks back out of the door to get the rest. "Goodness Nick, how much did you get? It's like your stocking up to be a doomsday prepper," I comment.
He laughs and replies, "We're Wolves Baby, we eat like horses," I laugh a little. I already eat like a man, from what the guys at the station told me, I guess it just gets worse.
-----
"Nick, when can I go back to work?" I ask, he should know the question was coming; I love my job. We're currently sitting outside on the patio, so I felt like now would be a good time to ask.
"I don't know, Taylor,"
"I'll be fine Nick," I assure him.
"That's what you said when you went for a run,"
"That wasn't my fault! I didn't know I was gonna shift! I didn't know there were Rouges out here!" I snap back. I feel something rising inside of me, my Wolf. My temper starts to rise with her.
"I warned you to be careful!"
"I was careful! I left one of my headphones out so I could hear things! Like I said, I didn't know I was going to shift Dominic!" I growl, standing up.
"You're not going!"
"What makes you think you can control what I do?!" I scream back. By now Sandy and Brett are watching from the doorway. All I wanted was his approval, not his permission.
He growls at me, his eyes darkening. Brett walks up to him and pulls on his arm, "Calm down, don't do something stupid,"
He stomps off and slams the door on the way in. Looks like I'm not getting my answers about Aiden any time soon.
He won't stop me from leaving. I'm going to work, I can't stay in this house forever. I'm a Wolf now, I can take up for myself.
