Adam stared in horror as he felt his throat dry up.
He failed to process words, as he stammered, looking for something to say. "D-Don't worry! You'll find some friends here." One of the ladies said. The small boy shook his head, his wings twitching. The boy knew that he was gonna be here for... A while. "Excuse us for a moment." The lady on the right said. The women walked into another room, not knowing that the angel could still hear them.
"We have to keep him away from the mass."
"But how? He's going to realize that he's being kept in that room more than the other kids! He's smarter than you think, Macy!"
"What else do we do? He's different. There are very few amounts of people we can allow near him!""I-... Fine."
Adam didn't care about the rest of the conversation they had, he just knew that he was 'different' and he won't be able to interact with many people for however long he was going to be in this space. He pulled his knees up to his chest as the women walked back into the room he was in. "Hey." He simply said, not making eye contact. "We're going to get you some food okay?" The 'Macy' lady said. The winged boy just nodded, the adults making their way out of the room to grab him something to eat.
After a couple of seconds of just sitting there, Adam positioned his left-wing in a way he could see it. He lightly traced over the bruises and cuts on it, all from home. His eyes drifted to a much deeper cut on the base of his wing from when his father tried to cut it off. The angel shut his eyes tightly, re-calling the memory.
He opened his eyes as Macy and Beth (the women) entered the room, a tray of food in Macy's hands. She walked over and placed the tray in front of him on the bed. "We're gonna c-" "Sign some papers!" Beth interrupted. "Okay..." Adam suspiciously responded, grabbing the plastic fork and poking at the chicken on his plate. The women walked out of the room, leaving Adam alone with his thoughts. He picked up a spoonful of corn- but before he could put it in his mouth, he dropped his spoon and gripped his head. It was pounding and he wanted to scream, but he's felt worse. His wings stretched as the pain and his head got more intense by the second. With the blurry sight he's got at the moment, he looked at his wings as they darkened. This hurt so bad, he let out a yell of anguish. A few seconds afterward, he saw a man burst into the room. Adam didn't care.
"GAHNGH!!" He shouted, once again, as the agony got worse. He felt something grow from his spine, adding on to the pain. The man was worriedly standing there trying to get Adam to say something or tell him what's wrong. Two other men walked in and did the same. Suddenly, everything stopped. The pain stopped and the changing stopped. His vision cleared as he untensed. "Oh my god..." He breathed, "What was that...?". He looked up at the men. They looked scared. "What? Wh- What's wrong?" Adam said. He felt something... Something like a... a- A tail?? He looked behind him, and his eyes widened. "Wait-" He gasped, feeling his head for horns. He felt them and he was absolutely terrified. He looked down and his tray of food was upside down and the food was scrambled everywhere.
He's a demon.
He promised himself he'd never become one, and he'd be innocent forever. He didn't understand why this was happening- He didn't even do anything. He looked at his hands as the men walked out and the women came in. "Oh, my g- Adam?" Macy said. He looked up at her as his tail slowly moved from side to side. He let out a shaky breath, this was all happening so fast. The women worriedly glanced at each other. Now they knew they would have to make sure Adam was separated from most people. "Adam- Come with us." Macy said. Adam nervously looked up at her and hesitantly nodded. She held her hand out and Adam shook his head, pulling his hand to his chest and getting off the bed. Macy looked him in shock then just nodded, and put her hand to her side, walking forwards, Adam following.
She led him to a room with only 2 beds. "Here you are..!" Macy exclaimed, presenting the room to him. He looked up at her, knowing he'll be alone for 3/4ths of the time hes in this orphanage. He stepped into the room and immediately ran over to one of the beds. He wanted to atleast try to be happy in this room. Macy and Beth stood at the doorway, slightly smiling. "Do you want more food?" Beth asked. "No." He quietly responded. "Okay. Well, in a few minutes here you're going to get to go outside to play a bit and stretch okay?" Macy said, clasping her hands together. "Sure." He replied, not making eye contact.
He knew that the women were hiding something. I mean, they haven't said one thing about him transforming! There's somethingodd (BUDUM TSS) about that. "We'll come get you when its time." Beth said, gesturing Macy to follow her out of the room and give the demon some time to think about, well, things. They closed the door behind them and Adam immediately fell back on the bed and sighed.
"I'm never getting out of here."
