"common crystal, Ya book worm!"
I called out to my slug of a friend, running along the sidewalk, catching up to the other two girls ahead.
Crystal would always spend her time reading, at lunch, on the way to and back from school..
It sometimes annoyed me, but i dont blame her! Im a bit of a book worm myself.
(okay before yall yell at me, you reading books is actually going to be a slightly big part in the book, yall see later)
"ill catch up..!"
The girl called back, waving a hand with her head stuck in the book, I sometimes wonder how her neck doesn't ache after a while.
"sure you will.."
I replied with a chuckle, stopping in one solid spot, waiting.
"(y/n)? Aren't you coming?"
One of the other girls asked from behind me, her voice filled with joy yet so pure,
Katie.
"yeah, I'll come.. In a whale"
The girl stood there for a bit, looking puzzled.  until she finally got the pun, and sighed.
"just because I'm holding a whale book gives you no right to-"
Yet her sentence was cut short, since the girl on her right stood the semi- idiot of the group,
grace.
The girl was howling with laughter at the simple joke I made, she loved my puns, and sometimes she even wrote them down in her journal.
"HaHa! Good one, (y/n)!"
laughed the girl, wiping the small tear from her eye, making me smile.
Katie then turned around, walking along the path to her home.
"common guys, we might be late for dinner!"
Katie explained as she mentioned us to follow along.
Every evening the girls and I all walked to Katie's house together, having dinner and playing games until we all got picked up by our mom and or dad.

Every time we crossed the road we would have to walk past some overgrown berry bushes and strawberry plants, meaning we got to have a snack on the way.
The berries would normally blossom in small bundles and stick out the rusty fence, letting us safely pick the different types of berries and fruit such as; cherries, sometimes peaches and strawberries if they decide to show up.

But for some odd reason, I felt as if something was hiding in the thorny bushes and tree leaves, something- no, someone shuffleing and shifting between the leaves, causing me to jolt back.
"Theres something in there!"
I yelled, useing crystal as my shield, which she wasn't fased by and continued reading.
"dont be silly, (y/n)! Its probably just a house cat."
Katie reassured me, smiling that sweet and pure smile of hers, I swear she's the daughter of god himself.
"y-yeah.. Just a house cat.."
I calmed myself, stepping out from behind poor crystal.
"Just to be sure.."
Grace went over, lifting up the bushes and leaves, only to reveal something other than a house cat, or some other creature, it was...
A box?
What's a box doing sitting out here in a bush?
I looked at the others for anything, they all stayed silent, all glancing at each other awkwardly, that was until crystal spoke up.
"well? What are we waiting for? Let's pull it out already!"
She cheered, slamming her book shut and stuffing it into her bag.
"thats the way to go!"
I cheered along with her, immediately turning around and carefully placing my grip on the sides, I pulled it out and into my arms, regardless of the dirt and mud scrambling on my arms and hands.
"common! We need to get inside!"
Grace yelled, already halfway up the street.
We all followed along, my arms wrapped safely around the box and before I knew it, we were halfway up the driveway to Katie's house.
