A bright light shines into your y/e/c eyes. You squeeze your eyes shut as you roll onto your back, arms aching. A light sigh of defeat rolls from your lips, as you -just for a second- thought Cole would be laying next to you.

Cole. Cole was your boyfriend of a year and a half, up until he suddenly broke up with you.

The relationship was great - amazing even - up until he had to leave. Leave for his new show Riverdale. You two decided that you wouldn't let this, complication, affect the relationship. That you would always call, and text each other.

Sadly, that plan only worked for a couple of months. You two would constantly fight. Fight over your tone of voice. Fight over how it seemed that he never had time for you. And of course, fight over how clingy you got.

It did make sense, though, how clingy you got.  But, that didn't make a difference.

You wipe a tear with the pad of your thumb from your cheek. You sit up carefully, exhausted from the neverending misery you felt. You look to the window with the shinning light bursting through the blinds. You pry your eyes away, seeing black dots everywhere you look.

You slip on a sweater. Cole's sweater. It smelled of pine and cigarettes. You melt into it, remembering all the times you would throw on one of his sweaters on chilly mornings, like this one.  You pull the dark golden nit tighter, against your chilled skin. As if you were trying to pull the memories closer. pull him closer.

Your calmed breath hitches as you hear your clock tick. Your eyes widen, and your skin begins to itch.

You practically jump up, ridding yourself of any and all thoughts having to do with Cole. You practically rip his amber sweater from your body. Not being able to bear another second of his everlasting hold on you and your life.

You drag your feet across your cold floor, letting it sting your bare feet.

You gaze at your fridge, fuzzy brained. You turn away, as fast as you turned to it. Not feeling an appetite. Which, is not surprising, as you barely ate one meal a day.

you sluggishly make your way to your couch. Your legs lift, as you sink into the dark cushy sofa. The morning air still bitting at your skin. You're soon fading into the blank world that you had come to know.

Your world had become so... dull ~ mute~ without Cole. Everything seemed as the volume was turned down. Everything you did was dull.

Except for the crying. The crying wasn't dull, perse. so, it wasn't all dull.

You thought as you drifted into the bottomless ravine that is sleep.

A sharp knock wakes you. Your eyes stay shut as if glue was holding them closed. Another knock -thick and desperate- is heard. You ball your fists and rub your tired eyes. Slowly you open them, looking around the dark room mindlessly. Ready to disappear into an impenetrable slumber.

Lastly, a swift knock tumbles to your ears, reminding you to resist your want to leave this world.

You lightly nod your head as you push your weight to your feet. You stumble to your front door (since you had barely walked all day it was hard to do).

You stand at the chipped door letting your face fall only to nicely secure a smile. You place your hand on the icy doorknob, letting it lick you with its glacial tongue. You let the wintery sergue run through you.

With a gentle twist, you pull on the door. Cole.

"cole-"

before you can finish, cole has his lips against yours. His large brash hands smoothe over your cheek, and your hands warp themselves around his neck, finding the well-known place once again.

His calloused thumb starts tracing circles along your reddened cheek, in a soothing manner. You are consumed by memories.

Soon you are drowning in mixed emotions. nostalgia- the memory of waking up to a hundred kisses, peppering your face. relief- he wants to get back together with you. or at least wants you. Bewilderment- no more needed to be said. rage- he can't do this. he can't break up with you then relentlessly knock on your door, then kiss you.

He pulls away only leaving a fraction of space between your lips as if it was too painful to move further back.

"I still love you," he mutters, eyes still closed. His breath fanning your face. You nid in thought. seconds later you open your y/e/c eyes, only to be met by cole's bay eyes. You sink into then.

"You said we would stay friends," You say, eyes moving to the ground. He only pulls you tighter.

"I'm sorry"

"cole, you said we could still be friends, but then you practically shunned me," you continue, starting to feel frantic. his hold on you does not falter. you start to shake.

"I'm sorry"

"cole, you left me," You say, in a saddened frenzie. The cold air once again bitting at your y/s/c skin, only urging you to forgive the warm freckled beauty that is hugging you tight.

"i am sorry," He says not loosening his grip.

"cole-"

He tugs you closer, which you didn't think was possible. His warm grip calming you as you plunge into his smoke fleece collard coat. Much to your dismay.

He buries his head in the crook of your neck. He places a light kiss to the skin, leaving fire in their wake.

"I Love you"
