Mom and I get to sleep in a guest bedroom. Unfortunately, there's only one bed, so we have to share. I think she doesn't mind, but I kinda do. But hey, what are you going to do?
"Good night, Pan," Mom whispers in the dark to me.
"Good night, Mom," I say.
It isn't long before I fall into a deep sleep.
.....
I am standing in the house where I was born. My hands tremble at my sides, and I swallow hard to try and avoid the fear and anxiety churning within me. This is not a safe place for me now.
"Well, well, well," says a deep, demonic voice. A shadow man appears in the doorway, preventing my escape. "What do we have here?"
"N - no," I gasp.
"Oh, yes, my dear daughter. You are more powerful than you can possibly imagine. And you can kill me, and I can kill you. But no one else, not even the Slenderman can kill you or I."
He walks closer to me. "You think you are able to hide from me, Little Rabbit?"
"I have done it so far," I retort.
"You're not going to win this little game," he says. "Soon, you will find that there are worse things than death."
"You talk a big game, Habit," I snarl. "But you're outnumbered. And alone. I'm not alone."
He suddenly grabs me by the throat and lifts me up. I gag and struggle against him. I see a flash of white teeth as he grins in pleasure. I kick out at him, and he doesn't move. He just laughs.
"You will never escape me, Rabbit. You are destined to be a killer like me, and nothing you can say or do will ever stop that from happening."
"I ... won't be like .... you."
"Oh?"
"I'll be ... stronger."
Suddenly, purple energy glows and surges to the surface of my skin, and he drops me. I cough and gag, tears springing to my eyes. He just staggers back, then fades into nothingness.
But Habit's warning is true - I can't stop him. Not yet anyways. But my warning is true as well.
I am stronger than Habit is and ever will be. And there's nothing he can do about that.
