It happens in the middle of the night.
I'm lying in bed, barely awake, when I sense it. Those humans possessed by Slender are coming. I look around my room frantically, but they're getting closer and closer to us. I have no time to just sit and wait.
I've got to warn the others. The boys will know what to do. Because I sure as hell don't.
I knock hard on the door to where Evan sleeps. He answers, looking groggy and confused. He looks at my face and immediately, worry clouds his own. Evan opens his mouth, but that's when a window nearby shatters.
He pulls me inside his room and closes the door, locking it as another window shatters.
"What the hell is going on?" Evan whispers in the dark.
"Demons," I whisper back.
You think you can stop Destiny? You are more wrong than you could possibly imagine.
I shudder hard, and Evan looks at me.
"Demons? Like the kind you see on t.v. or something?"
"Yes. Only far, far worse. And real," I say.
Can you protect them all, Pandora? Let's see!
The window by Evan's bed implodes. I thrust my hands out and the glass shards stop a foot away from us, then fall to the ground. Evan just stares at me before grabbing a large hunting knife from beside his bed.
"What the fuck's going on?" he asks.
Suddenly, a guy comes up to the shattered window and I stare at him. He smiles darkly and climbs inside.
"Give my regards to your mother, little Rabbit," he says.
"Habit," I say.
"In the flesh. More or less."
He raises his hand and Evan is pressed against the wall. He can't move, and his knife clatters on the floor. I step between them and raise my hand. Habit flies back and hits the glass jutting out of the broken window.
He gasps, there's a piece of glass sticking out of his chest.
That breaks his focus on Evan. I grab Evan's hand and we run from the room before Habit can heal himself.
"Evan, get Jeff and Vinny," I say. "I will hold him off."
"No! We swore we'd protect you and that's what we'll do. So come on, Pan!"
You can't escape, Pandora. You belong to me. You all do. No matter where you go, no matter where you hide. I will be there. And I will kill everything you've ever loved.
We get Jeff and Vinny and leave in the car, headed God-knows-where. I just pray that Habit doesn't find us as quickly as he did here.
