There was a boy in her room. Sure, he was cute but he was probably her new roommate’s boyfriend. He flashed a smile that would blind anyone in its line of sight. He held out his hand.
“I’m Isaac,” he said still smiling.
“Audrey,” she said sounding reserved. She slowly turned around and set a box of books down on the small metal desk. She ignored his hand and picked up another box from the bronze luggage cart just outside the door.
“Do you need any help?” he asked. Maybe he WAS her roommate. She was pretty sure she saw some co-ed rooms at freshman orientation.
“I’m fine, thanks,” she said still with her back turned to him.
“Your lose,” he laughed. She shoke her head and started to make her new bed. New room, new life, and new friends she thought.
“Have you met Shauna yet?” he asked trying to keep their conversation going. “She’s your roommate if you thought I was.”
She giggled to herself. “I didn’t. No worries,” She set another box down on the table and unpacked all of her personal items. All her band posters, her flute, and photos of her and her twin sister, Amber. She had just finished hanging the photos on a corkboard that she put up a bit earlier as the door blasted open. A girl with bleach blonde hair put in a high pony tail, bright blue eyes, freckles coated her upper cheeks flew into the room.
“What’s up, nerd” she said smiling at Isaac. She was wearing black leggings, a purple Aztec crop top, and purple high top converse. Her smile turned into a frown as she turned to look at Audrey.
“I thought I wasn’t gonna have a roommate this year,” the girl muttered. Audrey sat on her bed and texted her mom. Just got everything unpacked in my dorm at George Washington Univeristy. Text me when you can.
“Too bad you got one, cry baby,” Isaac said flashing his pearly white again. “Audrey meet the one and only Shauna Lake. Shauna meet Audrey.”
Shauna smiled fakely. “I see you two have met.”
“Only slightly,” Audrey said smiling back.
“I won’t be in here very often so enjoy,” Shauna said walking out into the hallway. Audrey walked over to the full size mirror hanging on the backside of the door. She thought she looked like nothing compared to Shauna. Her long brown hair was up in a messy bun, her green eyes resembled emeralds but her large, nerd glasses seemed to drown the color out. She wore a pair of jean shorts matched with a rope belt, one of her high school soccer T-shirts, and a pair mint green flip flops. She was pretty, under her nerdy appearance. She noticed Isaac looking at her corkboard as she went to sit down on her bed.
“That girl,” he said “Looks just like you.”
“Maybe because she’s my sister,” Audrey said annoyed
“Twins?” he asked
“Yeah.” She answered almost ignoring him. “How’s it going with Shauna?”
He developed a hurt look in his eyes like a kid getting his lollipop taken away from him. “You think she’s my girlfriend?!” He asked bitterly.
“It sure looked like it” She responded started to laugh.
“She’s my little sister,” he said slowly.
Audrey stopped laughing. “I am so sorry I said that.”
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it,” he said starting to smile “It actually happens a lot since we’re with each other a lot and we look nothing alike,” He was right. He had medium length, dark blonde hair that was spiked up, storm cloud gray eyes, and slight dimples. He ran his hand through his hair and held his hand out for her to take. “Well I’m gonna head downstairs to dinner if you’d like to come,”
“Are you asking me out?” she asked confused
“Just asking my new friend who I’m sure doesn’t have many friends at campus if they’d like to eat dinner with me,” he laughed
She smiled and took his hand. “Shall we?” He walked out of the room almost dragging her behind him. She looked the door and the two walked hand in hand down the hallway to the stairs.
