" Last one!" I called out to my mom.

Today was the day I was to leave for college. I decided to go to California University.

"Why did you have to apply for a school so far away?" she asked annoyance laced throughout her voice.

"Why not?" I answered with a question, something she was notorious for.

A slight frown was shown apron her facial features as she looked lost in a thought. "Come on we are gonna be late." I shout she rolls her eyes as I grab her hand and tug her through the house we currently lived in.

We entered her car and she fumbled with her keys. "You know which one to use right?" I jokingly question she frowns. "We'll if you know so much about driving then why don't you take the wheel?" she asks.

"I would if someone would have gotten me a car for my birthday."

"Vanessa, we have already talked about this, a car isn't worth anything if you didn't earn it yourself!" she booms

"Alright, relax I was joking." I half lie. Sometime she can be very strict, but that isn't how she is always. I love the friend-like relationship we have instead of the mother daughter type relation. But sometimes I wish she would act like more of a mom.
