I looked up to see what was going on but regretted it immediately, I saw Becka run up to Mason crying out his name. I stare at the scene hoping I’ll just wake up and it all just be a bad dream but after a few painful seconds of trying I realise this is reality. I jump off the swing and make my way to the bottom of the slide each second feeling like hours. I get to the slide and start to climb up the slide when I notice a crimson red liquid start to slide down towards me; I closed my eyes and took deep breaths as I tried to keep down the bile rising in my throat. I heard Becka scream at Bailey again, he’s still not answering her questions.

What is going on up there?

Using every ounce of strength I had I made my way up the slide in a matter of seconds despite the fact I kept slipping on Mason’s blood. I looked down at my once blue hoodie, which was now dark red, and again fought the urge to vomit. I ran to Mason and grabbed him hugging him tightly; time seemed to slow down every second seemed like minutes, every minute seemed like hours.

“What happened” I asked weaker than I would have liked

“We’ve got to go, meet me at the woods” Bailey said, completely ignoring my question

“What?” I cried, I can’t believe what he was saying

“You’ve got to go, meet me at the edge of the woods” bailey said again

“We can’t just leave him here” I cried

“Kaiden” Becka said trying to calm me down but I could hear the fear and anger in her voice.

“We can’t just leave him here” I repeated, my voice shaking more than I would have liked

“Kaiden” Mason choked suddenly

“Mason” I cried holding him closer

“Kaiden you… you have to… have to go before he… before he gets you as well” Mason said between weak gasps.

“WHO” Becka and I cried out at the same time.

“Him” Mason said barely audible.

I looked where he was pointing and saw a dark shadow figure “We got to get out of here” Becka screamed flying down the slide.

“Let’s go” Becka pleaded, her voice shaking with fear

“I can’t… I can’t leave him here” I whispered, knowing I wouldn’t be able to speak any louder.

“Kaiden go… I’ll be fine… I’ll see you later” Mason said, smiling weakly

“Go” he motioned for me to go, this time I listened.

“See you later” I whispered hugging him.

I turned around and slid down the slide, I saw Becka relax a little bit knowing that I was following

“It’s going to be all right, we’ll go home, we’ll call the ambulance and the police we just need to make sure that who… whatever did this to Mason doesn’t get us either” Becka said soothingly, I just nodded in reply.

We made it to the edge of the woods quicker than I would have expected.

“Why did Bailey get us to meet him here” I asked shakily,

“I’m not sure maybe so we could hide easier” Becka said quietly staring off towards Bailey and Mason.

I fell to the ground not wanting to stand anymore and let my head fall into my hands; I just wanted to forget what just happened I wanted to be able to look up again and see Mason standing there but I knew that wasn’t going to happen he’s probably already dead, and I couldn’t do anything.

“Bailey what happened” Becka screamed out, interrupting my thoughts

“I’m sorry I couldn’t do anymore for him” I heard Bailey reply quietly

“What”? I said feeling the anger from before return

“Kaiden” Becka said soothingly, trying to calm me down

“I’m so sorry I did all I could” Bailey stated looking at me with pity.

I ignored the look and looked around when I noticed the knife in his hand

“Bailey why do you have that?” I asked pointing to the knife in his hand

“This?” Bailey asked holding it up

“Yeah why do you have it” Becka asked curiously

“In case the guy who did it comes back” he said in a duh tone

Becka and I nodded in agreement, but stopped when we caught sight of a tall creature, it looked like a shadow come to life, I looked at Becka and could tell she saw it as well. Bailey didn’t turn around, instead he grabbed Beckas wrist and stood still

“Bailey what are you doing?” She asked trying to steady her voice, he didn’t reply

“Ow Bailey let go” she cried wincing as he tightened his grip on her wrist, he still didn’t reply but he looked at her for the first time since getting here, as soon as he did so all colour left her face

“Let me go” She screamed trying to pull away and this time he complied, she stumbled back but managed to keep her footing

“Bailey what are you doing” she cried holding her wrist, again he didn’t reply

“Bailey!” Becka screamed as the shadow creature re-appeared, this time Bailey reacted, he swung the knife, but instead of swinging at the creature he swung at Becka.
