Loving him was never apart of my plan.

The summer before senior year I had everything planned out. I would get a job and I would study hard. My whole high school career had been leading up to Senior Year.

I had a part time job at Jacks, a cafe on the corner of Maine and Harbour. My friend Alice worked there with me too. Our boss knew this and coincidently we were always rostered for different days.

I lived in a rich town. Here everyone was loaded even Alices family. My family wasn't so fortunate. We lived thirty outside of town. Nobody ever came over to my house not even Alice. Yes, I was ashamed, no, not because of the house.

My mum was an addict. Addicted to coupons. The floor was always littered with papers and catalogs. She never cashed the coupons in she just boarded them.

I wasn't working with Alice today, my shift ended in ten and she promised to pick me up after as I didn't have a car. When my shift ended I waited outside on the sidewalk for her to pull up. When she did I noticed sitting shotgun was her perfectly handsome boyfriend. We had never met officially but I had heard of him. Dean Harroway was his name. Captain of the waterpolo team and top of five out of the seven classes he took. His family was also one of the richest in town, they came from old money post World War I.

I sat in the back and pulled out my phone to scroll through Instagram. Occasionally I looked up to answer Alices prying questions about how my shift was and if there was any annoying customers. She pulled up to hers and we all got out. She was hosting a 'tgis' party tonight (thank god its summer) and dug to the fact Dean was with her I knew I'd be doing the most of the setting up while she got set up, if you know what I mean.

Nearly around an hour later everything was set up and I was lounging on the couch flicking through channels. I flustered Alice came running down the stairs.

"Sorry I had difficulty printing something for an assignment" she blurted.
"I'm sure, was screwing Dean apart of the submission process?" I questioned. She turned bright red.

She muttered under her breath a thanks and went to the kitchen to prepare some snacks. Dean came into lounge room and sat on the couch next to me, sweating and shirtless. He looked at me and smiled, I payed him no attention and continued my channel surfing.

By seven the party was in full swing, the whole school seemed like it was there and for once the big mansion felt like a cramped box. I sat on the kitchen island drinking a beer and people watched.

A skinny red hair girl was being felt up by some creeper with a thin moustache, a guy with glasses to big for his face was dancing so hard I was afraid he would pull a muscle.

I saw Dean sitting alone on the couch, Alice couldn't be seen anywhere. He looked at me and I was caught. He smiled and gestured for me to go outside. I couldn't see Alice but what harm could be done?

We walked outside and sat on the staircase leading to her front door, marble stairs, of course.

"You looked a little alone in there" he stated.
"Thankyou, I was going for mysterious but I'll take it" he laughed.

I started to fiddle with my beer, trying not to make eye contact. The night air was cold and I had forgotten my coat inside. I noticed he too was fiddling with his drink and we both stared at the stars.

"I feel so embarrassed about this afternoon"
"Don't be" I said.
"You cold? It's a bit chilly out here and all you have on is that thin little dress".

I looked at him in shock. Had he been checking me out?

"Yeah I am a bit, my coat is inside. I'll just go get it"
"Don't".

He put his hand on my knee to stop me from getting up and I felt this electricity shot through me. He took his jacket off and placed in on my shoulders. I could feel his hot breath on my neck as he whispered.

"That better?"
"Yes" the word barley being said.

Chills ran through my body and in that moment I just wanted to kiss him. Run my hair through his messy black eyes and feel my way around his muscular figure. He pulled away from me when the clacking of Alices heels drew closer.

"Hey baby, can you go get some more alcohol?" she asked.
"Yeah, no problem".

He stood up and kissed her on the cheek and headed to his car. Alice sat down next to me.

"He's a sweetheart". She said.
"Yeah he really is"
