The sun was begging to set. But the day was far from over. I heard footsteps behind me and I sighed. Haruki stood by my side as we both looked at the sunset.

"Miwa you can feel that right, " Haruki said.

"yes. It seems a lieutenant is in a battle with a ryuoka, but tell me what you found, " I said.

He took a deep breath looking me in the eyes.

"you're right something is suspicious. But if we wish to interfere we have to go to Central 46," he said.

"do we have enough proof to drop the execution, " I said.

"not yet but we'll keep working on it, " he said.

"thank you Haruki, I know this is a lot to ask of you. You're sticking your neck out for me right now. I appreciate it, " I said.

I looked at him to see a huge smile across his face.

"so I'm irreplaceable. See I knew you loved me, " he said.

I let a small smile grace my face as my eyes became gentle not that he saw.

"you're right. You are irreplaceable, " I said.

He looked shocked before cupping his ear.

"I'm sorry I didn't catch that. Could you repeat it, " he said.

I now glared at him.

"don't push it, " I warned.

His face became a bit more serious.

"I trust in you Miwa. I'll follow you anywhere, " he said bowing.

He soon left and I sighed. He's the only one I truly trusted.

Haruki walked and looked up at the sky. His usual silly mood was gone. He thought about Miwa and he sighed. His fist clenched as his eyes filled with determination. He made a promise to himself long ago he would always stand by her side. After all, she did save him.

Miwa stood reading a file on a boy. He was in the academy but apparently dropped out after a few days. But what interested her was his Kido skill.

Everything else was normal for someone only on the Academy for a few days. But he was a natural at Kido. He already mastered four spells. Most students after that many days would struggle to do one.

If he was trained right he could become a formidable soul reaper. She stood up and travelled to the academy which took around a day.

When she entered one of the teachers froze. It was rare she ever visited. So they knew she was here for one of their students.  But what she said shocked them.

"where is Haruki Kin, " she said.

"that brat is gone. What do you want with him he's nothing but trouble, " the teacher said.

"Are you questioning me, " she said in a warning tone.

"We don't know anything after he left, " they said panicked.

She walked away and began searching for him. It took a few days but she found him. She walked around the place he was in.

She sensed spiritual pressure down an alleyway and saw five men ganging on on someone. At this rate, the boy would probably die.

And the person being beaten was Haruki Kin the boy she was looking for. But she wondered why he wasn't fighting back.

She took a step forward drawing the attention of the group.

"Who are you?" one of the men growled.

They looked to her blades and froze. They turned and glared at her.

"what are you doing here, " one snarled.

She pointed at the beaten boy.

"I've been looking for him, " she said.

They laughed as they dragged the boy forward and held him by his hair.

"This brat. What does a soul reaper want with him, " one laughed.

"that is none of your concern, " Miwa said.

They snarled and hit him to the ground kicking him. Miwa began walking forward. When she got to close one launched a punch at her. She grabbed his fist and his face contorted in pain as she broke his hand.

"You damn bitch, " they yelled.

They all attacked but she dodged and she soon grew annoyed. Within a second they were all on the floor groaning in pain and agony.

She looked down at the boy and he met her gaze.

"come with me. Put your skill to use, " she said.

He looked at her shocked.

She turned and began walking away and he quickly stood up following her

"Who are you?" he questioned.

"Miwa, "she said.

"why me?" he asked

She turned meeting his gaze. He froze. He couldn't see her face but he could feel her power.

"You have potential. I don't want it to go to waste, " she said.

Haruki looked up at the sky smiling as he remembered that day. She was the first to say that. The first to care about him. She trained him and truly cared.

That day was also important for another reason. It was the day he fell in love. He signed knowing nothing would ever happen but he still loved her.
