Y/n couldn’t believe what she had heard from Y. Sure the red head didn’t look like the type to kid around, judging from the dried up blood staining the once white walls. But it’s not everyday you hear that you’re going to be used as a weapon by the military. Or get various chemicals shot up in your veins, but hey, that’s average life for a test subject like Y/n. The 10 year-old was pretty smart for her age, she knew exactly what Y was telling her. Y/n was destined to be fighting on the battlefield for Sanctum she would be working in Psicom or the Guardian Corps., or maybe both. She didn’t know exactly what to think or to feel at first. Should she be happy that she finally has a purpose in life? Or maybe she should be angry that Marshall killed off her friends for the sake of his job, and lied to her about it. She now understood why Y was so intimidating, and hostile. Y was probably pulled into this the same why she was.
“You do understand that the only reason you’re alive right now is because you are the chosen host for X” Y’s scratchy voice broke Y/n out of her thoughts.
“So you mean if I wasn’t you would have killed me?”
“I don’t like people in my room, as you can tell” Y gestured her hand toward the blood stains on her walls. Y/n gulped. She didn’t want to know what would happen if she wasn’t the one.
“Who were they?” She timidly squeaked. Y narrowed her eyes trying to think of the poor souls who dared entered her room.
“If I’m correct you’re talking about who all this blood belongs to right?” Y/n curtly nodded, returning her gaze back to the pair of red eyes staring into her own.
“Well, some of them ar- I mean were new employees, who didn’t know any better. Some are those kids who were forced into here, and that’s about all. I don’t get many visitors” Y crossed her arms over her chest as she stared at the wall behind Y/n. She couldn’t really see due to there being no light at all in the room, but Y’s dark red eyes seemed to glow amongst the darkness. Y/n knew that she should be angry with the fact that Y had killed some of the children, but she knew she would be powerless against someone like Y.
“Now that we know that you’re definitely X then that would mean you’re my other half” Y sighed as she continued. “I have weaknesses that you’re stronger in, and you have weaknesses that I’m stronger in. That’s why they created us, together we’re the perfect weapon.” Y/n slowly nodded she didn’t like the fact that Sanctum was just using Y and her for control. She hated the fact that she couldn’t do anything about it. Even if she was just a bit older.
“Why would Marshall and that superior guy want to use children for X hosts?” Y looked down at the girl.
“I’m not entirely sure. I think they believe that if you gift a person with power at a young age, then they would be able to grow up with learning how to control and master it, making them formidable foes against enemies.” Y/n nodded. The words still processing in her mind, it did make sense in a way. If they did raise the X host, or her, correctly then they would be in possession of someone who understands their own strengths and weaknesses, than some power drunk fool who’d risk lives.
“Anyway, that’s just what I think.” A loud screech resonated throughout the room, making Y/n wince as she covered her ears and Y roll her red eyes in irritation
“How are you doing in there girls?” a voice that seemed to come from the ceiling cheered. It sounded familiar, it sounded like Marshall.
“Why don’t you come in here and find out?” Y hollered in the direction of the voice. She was probably used to hearing this voice.
“Ha, no way! You’d kill me”
“It doesn’t take a genius to know that” Y/n inaudibly muttered.
“Putting that aside,” Marshall chuckled nervously “Have you and Y/n ‘Linked’ yet?” Y turned her head back to the e/c eyed girl sitting on the floor, lost in thought. A ghost of a smile appeared on the red heads lips.
“Yeah, she and I are officially Linked” Just as Y finished, a light had flickered on, lighting up the once dark room. Y/n shielded her eyes from the white brightness that suddenly filled the room.
“Jeez, warn us next time” Y rubbed her eyes as they adjusted to the brightness. With a source of light in the room, Y/n was able to fully see her surroundings. She blinked owlishly at the sight in front of her.
Y’s walls were covered in scribbles, her handwriting was difficult to decipher due to the splats of rusty brown dried blood that caked over the messy writing. Her floors were no better. It was hidden under a combination of paper and you guessed it, blood. Y/n quickly stood up from the ground, afraid that she had been sitting in a puddle of blood since her and Y’s conversation. Looking down, her gaze met with a black shirt that had she had been sitting on the whole time she spent on the floor. Her eyes traveled toward Y, who was sitting in her cot, cross legged and observing her strange behavior.
“Y/n, are you okay?” Y stood up, the bed creaking from the weight being lifted off the cardboard like mattress. Before Y/n could answer the door slammed open revealing Marshall standing in the doorway, grinning like usual.
With a clap of his hands a crowd of nurses came rushing through the narrow door frame, and yanking Y’s and Y/n’s hands behind their backs. The male nurse behind Y quickly injected a suspicious looking blue liquid into her neck causing the young woman to fell limp into the nurses’ arms. Y/n snapped her head toward Marshall as she fought to get out the strong grip of the nurse.
“What are you going to do to us?” Y/n choked out before feeling a pinch in her neck, she assumed it was the same weird stuff they injected into Y. Y/n struggled to stay conscience as her vision was beginning to fade into black.
“You’ll find out soon enough, Project X”
