The soft blonde sand slid easily between eager toes digging into the Earth. The stars twinkled, winking in the inky abyss, silent reminders that we weren't alone in the universe. And the moon bright and shining in stark contrast. Beautiful and mysterious, yet calming and constant. The air tastes salty. The crashing of the waves was audible from the slight distance. The beat was slow but strong as the water rose and fell at the whims of the moon. Drawing you toward it, captivating your whole being as you stood entranced. The siren's song of the sea. It was beautiful. It was peaceful. It was sensuous and seductive. It was everything. Your eyes focus on the scene, the wind's warm hands cup your face with the delicacy of a lover. Pulling you forward. The slight skiff of sand sounds as your feet moved of their own accord. Luring you further into the mumbling trance of the sea. One step, two, five, twelve, twenty, at some point you lost count and before you could comprehend the situation you were knee deep in the water. It was warm and alive, bewitching. You felt as if you could feel the power locked with in the waves. The freedoms it possesses. The freedom you so desperately coveted. The stars shown in the clear reflective water. Blinking up at you with all the innocence of a child drawing you in even deeper. Waves now crashed around your thighs. Somewhere deep down inside your soul you knew you should be terrified, screaming and fighting to get as far away from the danger as possible. But the voice was small insignificant and nearly noiseless, drowned out by the spellbinding song sung by the sea. The liquid reached your fingertips and you began to play with the water. Softly, as if it were an infant you were trying to coax a smile from. Drawing shapes. Those of swirling lines captivating the nature of your languid soul. Strangely the further you waded into the water the more tranquility seeped into your being. The waves didn't toss you around as they should. No it was as if they cradled you as a mother would their new born babe. The warmth shielded you from the outside world, the stress, heart break, and depression floated away on the tide. And then a single thought wormed its way into your sluggish consciousness, you wanted, more than anything to become a part of the ocean. To roll into oblivion where nothing could ever again touch your carefully crafted ceramic heart. The water now brushed your chin and you leaned into its grasp letting it nuzzle your face. One, two, three, steps and your feet left the soft, shifting sand. You let the water envelope you in its arms. Wooing you into it's weightless embrace. Your eyes stayed open as you watched the moon, its vibrant face smiling down at you from the heavens. Soon it was torn by the water surface, dancing along lines rendered by faceless artist. No longer was the sea subject to the inclinations of an uncaring God. The God now bowed to it. With that the final breath of oxygen left your lungs and you watched as it rose to the surface, the last thing of you that would. But you didn't struggle, gasp, or claw for the surface. No, your lungs didn't scream, nor did your eye blink. Because that didn't matter. All that mattered melody resonating through your mind. The eerie echoing tune that reverberated done into your very soul. That was what you became. The world began to blacken as you were lulled into a state of euphoria by the shifting currents. Finally all went black and there was nothing. Simply nothing.
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around your wrist yanking at you violently. You clawed at the hand to release you. You didn't want to leave you wanted to stay. Nothing mattered here. Your heart was numb. That was what you wanted. But no matter how much you claw at the grotesque limb you could not break free of its iron grasp. The scene shattered, pieces of sheer tranquility disappearing into extinction, you were falling. Into oblivion. You were falling. You couldn't see, hear, taste, smell, or touch. There was no wind whipping at your hair, no lights whizzing by, no echoing of your voice hitting anything, or even existing in the first place yet you were screaming. There was not a single scent to signify where you were, or what was around you. You began to wonder how you knew you were falling. But was buried deep within your gut, a feeling of pure terror. Knowing that there was nothing below you, nothing above you, only endless abyss. You fell and fell for what seemed like days. Until something penetrated the wool like blackness. A single pinprick of light, the feeling of dread seated itself in your cavernous psyche. Taking hold and gripping your heart with hand of ice. Wrapping its tail around your throat and constricting until you began to claw at your throat in order to gasp for air you hadn't realized you were breathing. The light swelled in size until it became blinding. Pure white and offensive, your pupils contracted in protest. Moments later you were trapped in the depths of the illumination.
Sobs, that was the first thing you register with your sluggish brain. Wracking and all encompassing. They sounded as those of a heart slowly cracking into pieces. Pain was the next thing to register, your head was pounding to the beat of an unknown drum. Grimacing you slowly peeled your eyelids away to reveal a white ceiling. Where am I? The words floated through your mind as you gaze about the room. A steady beeping registered in your hearing. Turning your head despite the pain you found a heart monitor placed next to you. The pieces finally clicked, you must be in a hospital. But why? Turning your head the other way, you found the source of the sobs. A man was seated in a black chair facing you, his hand outstretched clutching yours. Feeling the stiffness in your joints you tentatively twitched the end of your fingers in hopes they would respond. Luckily enough they did. But the movements alerted the man to the fact that you were awake. The blonde man lifted his head to reveal tear stained cheeks and bloodshot puffy eyes. His soft features looked slightly familiar, but you couldn't place them. The blonde man wiped his fairly large nose on his sleeve leaving a disgusting train of snot in it wake. His eyes widened and his mouth dropped in surprise. The he was upon you, clutching you to his hard chest and crying even harder than before. You could feel his heart beating wildly against his ribcage af if in attempt to escape. You grunted in response to his abrupt gesture and the strange man quickly removed himself. Sniffing profusely he muttered ample apologies biting his lip in concern. He looked at you and a name fell from his lips no more than a whisper. "Lewis", then again, "Lewis", "Lewis", until it became a chant. Lewis, the name sounded familiar but somehow felt foreign on your own tongue. Indistinguible babbling ensued from the man still clutching your hand. Knuckles white, the hand was trembling like a dead leaf in fall, barely able to cling to the tree it so desperately needed to survive. You must've had a confused look on your face because the next words he spoke were slow and careful. "Lewis" there was that name again. Maybe he was referencing to you. Yes that seems right, Lewis, yes that seems to be your name. His voice trembled as much as his hand as he spoke the next few words. "It's me Jae, your husband."
