I come to in a panic and look around this room that was padded and realize I'm cuffed to my bed. Regaining my vision I see next to me a bouquet of flowers and beyond that a female body also cuffed to her bed.
"It wasn't worth it you know?" she said.
Excuse me? what wasn't worth it? I replied back. She sat up lightly groaning in pain, I could only see her eyes above the flowers in front of me and her bangs.
"Saving your sorry ass from those...people, if that's what you would like to call them" she said.I didn't asked to be saved I didn't exactly plan my night to go like that you know that right? I asked.
She stared at me with a death like glare, like she wanted to kill me. I looked away to see if someone would come into the room any time soon."Well it did you fucking idiot and I happened to be around when I saw what happened" she said. I quickly looked back at her annoyed.
Would you just shut up? I wouldn't be in this situation if you just pissed off, I said to her.
"Look I don't know what they wanted with you but I know who they work for and it goes deeper than that" She said. I just ignored her and looked back at the door waiting patiently.
"Nobody is going to come through that door pumpkin" she commented. I looked back at her and replied.
"and how the hell do you know that?" I asked her irritated."We've been in here for almost 6 months now and nobody has came through that door ever since we've been fixed up", she said.
I looked down at my wrists to see a code on my left wrist that I couldn't understand.
Since you know so much...what exactly would this be on my wrist? I asked.
"Government testing subject code" she replied. I laid back impatiently and dropped my wrists.
Well that's just fucking dandy, I said.
"It's something about me and you that they're interested with...something about the ability to not feel death and how it doesn't exist with us but that it wouldn't pass down to a child if we were to have one with some one else unlike us" She said.
"I heard it in my sleep before waking from my coma" she added.
I sat there thinking about what was next for me."Hey, if it makes you feel any better" I looked back at her as she continued her sentence.
"I can get us out of here but you have to promise me one thing" she said.
I scoffed and looked away for a moment and turned back to see her standing above me.
"You won't slow me down" she said.
I nodded quickly for confirmation and the sake of my freedom. She climbed on top of me and ran her fingers through my hair as I awkwardly tried to ease back while she smiled insanely at me.
"Stop! you're fucking making me uncomfortable!" I shouted.
She aggressively put her hand to my throat and whispered, "shut your damn mouth! I don't care, I just want to get out of here!".
I nodded again trying not to blush as she looked me in my eyes and without hesitation picked my cuffs. Rubbing my wrists I got up quickly and stumbled a little bit as she caught me.
"Walk around for a little bit, because we need to move fast" she said.
I nodded again and began trying to walk. She looked out of the door window and started pacing back and forth impatiently. I quickly got my balance back and smiled at her.
"Let's give'em hell" she said as she opened the door slowly.
We rushed out as she choked a man in a white coat and ordered me to break the glass to this black switch on the wall and pull it. I did so and all of the lights started flickering uncontrollably along with an alarm going off. She grabbed my arm and we ran down a random padded hallway, each flicker from the light felt like the lights were splashing blood on my face each time they flickered off. As we were rushing and the lights flickered on all I could see were other people in white coats with part of their spines sticking out of their necks bleeding out behind us as the alarms were going off. One last time the lights flickered a door opened. As she scanned the area looking for more threats I looked behind us to see the hallway filled with bodies covered in blood. I looked down at myself and was covered in what I assumed to be their blood, then I looked at her as she looked back at me with this crazed thrill look on her face like she was having fun.
"Time to have some fun out here" she said giggling.
She rushed over to a truck in the pouring rain and opened a crate and looked back at me with a seductive smile as she waved me over to her. I ran to her quickly and saw what was in the crate, a pair of white masks with smiles in them and the same codes me and her had on our wrists. I looked at her with confusion and asked
"What is this exactly?" I asked.
She picked them up and handed me one, "Put it on, this is who we are now just a face" she said. Without refusing I put it on as she did the same.
"Let's get out of here I know a place where we can stay but we'll need to get new clothes first" she said.
I nodded in agreement and looked around one last time before we climbed a gate and were on our way off into the dark cold night.
