One's Chosen Destiny

Chapter 1 - School Day

Morning:

         My alarm went off at 6:00am and I knew I had to get up. It was a Friday so that made me feel at least a little bit better about waking up and going to school. I slowly made my way off my bed and walked over to my closet. I grabbed a pair of black nike sweatpants, a blue t-shirt, and went into the bathroom. I tied my hair back and washed my face and then brushed my teeth. I changed into my clothes and took my hair down and brushed it out. I brushed my teeth and then put on deodorant and vanilla scented perfume. I only put on one spray of it...any more than that and my nose would become annoyed. 

         I walked downstairs, went into the kitchen and opened the fridge. I took out some raspberries, washed them off in the sink, and ate them one by one. I threw on a pair of shoes...my usual..gray nike tennis shoes, grabbed my bag, and headed out the door to wait for the bus. 

         When the bus arrived at my house, I stepped onto it and went to the back of the bus. I sat down in a seat and plugged in my headphones to listen to my music on the way to school.

At School:

          I got off the bus, went inside the school, walked down the hallway, and tossed my bag in my locker, grabbed my binder and chromebook, and went to class. I got to class and set my things down at my assigned seat. My seat was right next to my best friends seat...me and her somehow convinced our teacher to give us seats right next to each other.

          After I set down my things, I walked back out of the classroom and walked towards the gym to find Kira. She was my best friend...and she was also dating my brother, Nathan. She was just like me and Nathan. We all switched from our regular school to go to this public school. It was way different than our other school. At our other school, we didn't learn math or history, or any of those things. At our other school we learned how to hunt. We learned about pack life. And my least favorite thing...chosen mates. It's gross and it sure as hell isn't fair. Why couldn't I date who I wanted to date? Why do I have to date someone who my body, mind, and pack rank wanted? 

         I walked into the gym and there they were. Kira and Nathan, playing 1 on 1 in basketball. Playing competitively as usual. Nathan's a year older so he's able to drive already. And of course he has to go to Kira's house to pick her up. I could NEVER ride in the same car as those two love birds, I prefer to take the bus. Anyway, I walked over to them and smacked the ball away from Nathan so he'd have to run and get it. I giggled a bit.

"Hey Raven, nice to see you too," Kira said as she laughed.

"Hey," I laughed as I pulled the hair out of my face and tucked it behind my ear.

"Lookin' casual...as usual," Kira joked.

"Haha very funny you lovey dovey," I smirked. Kira slapped my arm jokingly and I just laughed.

"Thanks a lot dingus," Nathan said with a sigh as he walked back to us with the basketball.

"You're welcome," I said. "I'll catch you in class Kira," I said as I started walking backwards to go back out the gym door. Kira smiled and waved goodbye to me as I turned around and I just laughed to myself. I walked out the gym door and went to the science room, where my other best friend Tricia was. She once told me that science was basically always her first hour every year. 

        I walked into the Science room and ran up behind Tricia and tasered her sides with my fingers.

"Raven! I thought I told you to stop doing that?!" she laughed as I walked in front of her. 

I laughed and looked to who was sitting next to her. "Hey Addi," I said with a smile.

"Hey," Addi replied with a small laugh after what I had done to Tricia.

      Addi and Tricia were dating, for over a year already. They've been dating since before I started going to this school. They were the definition of COUPLE GOALS. 

      After I went to class, the day went by pretty fast. I had my usual classes, and no homework because I was able to get it all done in study hall. I waited outside the school to catch the bus and once it go there, I walked on and went to the back of the bus and plugged in my headphones.

Afternoon/Night:

       When I got home, I walked into the house. Nathan had already gotten back since it was a straight drive from the school to home, unlike the bus where you have to stop at other peoples houses to drop them off. Kira was inside with Nathan as well, they were sitting on the couch together watching T.V...how cute. They were destined mates...I liked them together, they really did love each other....but they way they got together was just....no.

       I grabbed some ramen and made it in a bowl and then took it upstairs to my room. I turned on the T.V. and pulled up Netflix to watch the new season of The Flash. I ate my ramen and watched a few episodes of the flash and then went back downstairs. Everyone was sitting in the kitchen talking. "What'd I miss?" I say as I sit down to join in on their conversation.

My dad was the first to speak. "We're meeting with the Bright Forest Pack tomorrow at dusk."

        He said this bitterly as if they did something wrong. We don't normally get along with other packs considering it means we have to cross territories and either invade on others territories or they invade on ours. No packs really ever put themselves out there to meet with other packs. "Why?" I say, slightly confused.

"To discuss the hunting grounds...as well as the creak." he replied.

"Oh?" I say confused. "Have fun with that."

"You have to come. You're apart of this pack which means you have a responsibility in this as well."

"Ugh," I sighed with a slight growl in my throat. I went back upstairs and went into my room. I didn't bother to change...what I was wearing was comfortable. I shut off my light and walked over to my bed. I plugged in my phone, laid my head down on my pillow, and fell asleep.
