This was unbelievable. This can not be happening. There was no way in hell he was the one...at least not for me. Sure, he was strong, handsome, and had the hottest voice...but that was his wolf, not him. Well, except for his voice, it wasn't him. I mean it was him but- you know what, nevermind, you get the point. I kept my head low as my dad and...Thomas..continued talking. God, even his name sent chills down my spine. Ew no what the hell is wrong with me. Raven, snap out of it already. Chosen Mates? Gross. I shuddered and flicked my ears nervously, my tail still clung to my flank. I tried to relax, but couldn't. Kira must've understood I was nervous from my body being so tense. She walked over to me.
"What was that?" She whispered to me quietly.
"N-nothing," I say, still shocked myself.
"You know damn well what that was," her voice got a little louder but she quickly quieted it. "So Thomas huh? Who knows, maybe his human form is just as hot as his wolf form.
I felt my cheeks get hot...thank god for fur. "Kira shhh," I snarled, "he's an alpha, he'll hear you."
"Yeahhhh and? He already knows. He saw what happened to you."
"Oh please don't remind me. That was so embarrassing." I looked into Kira's eyes, a feeling of shame washed over my face. How could that happen? And in front of my father?
"Hey, it happens to everyone...well almost everyone. Besides I mean look at him, he's strong, he can protect you."
"Yeah well he's also not in our pack." I said this bitterly. "You guys are my pack...not him and his wolves."
"Well it's not your choice to decide who is or isn't your Chosen Mate."
I sighed and nodded slowly. I looked Kira in the eyes, worried for what would come next. I mean really, what happens next? I decided to try and ignore it. I stood up straight and stood tall. I relaxed my body and let my tail hang freely. I puffed my chest and put my ears forward. I sat down and kept my head held high.
As I was looking off in the distance, past the other pack, and past the river, I heard something that sent chills throughout my entire body. It was Thomas.
"May I speak with that wolf?" He drew his head and looked directly at me, his chilling eyes looked as if they were staring through my soul.
"Of course. Raven come up here please." It was my father this time.
I slowly crept forward, my head dropped and I looked up at Thomas, careful not to challenge him. Thomas flicked his head towards some trees near the river, telling me to follow. I looked back at my father and he nodded, giving me the okay. I walked, my head hung low and my tail clung to my flank again. Why was I so nervous? I barely knew the guy...and that's going to change real fast.
We walked and made our way to the trees, away from both our packs. My heart was racing, and my breathing quickened. It was Thomas who spoke first. 'Sit,' was all he said. I was lost in my own thoughts and didn't even know it was him talking to me at first.
"Sit." He repeated.
I did as I was told, not daring to disobey an alpha...especially one this large. I sat there, my heart pounding, my ears pinned back, and my head low and looking down.
"Well, aren't you going to at least look at me?" He said jokingly.
I wasn't sure I could...not after what happened. But I did it anyway. I raised my head and made eye contact with him. His eyes were beautiful, I could get lost in them. But I was quickly snapped out of my thoughts when his voice, once again, rang in my ears.
"So your name?" he asked kindly.
Did he not hear my father? I was sure he said it clearly enough. "Umm...mmm..R-Raven."
"Well nice to meet you 'umm...mmm..R-Raven." he said with a bitter laugh.
It was weird..he was rude but..it was attractive? "Y-you too..sir."
"Oh please, you know my name. Use it."
Well that was rude. All I was trying to do was be polite. My lip twitched and I bared my teeth slightly.
"Not so fast princess. Don't you know it's rude to bare your teeth to an alpha like that?" he snickered.
Princess?! Absolutely not. I growled. "I don't care. And I am most certainly not your princess." I said that last part with a strong hatred in my voice.
"Oh come on. We all saw that back there. I'm your mate. And there's nothing you can do about it."
"You're not my mate! In fact, I already have a mate." I spat.
"Mhm sureee. And who might that be?"
"That doesn't concern you."
"Oh but it does. You see, I can't have some low life omega hitting on my girl."
A low growl rose from my throat. "I'm not 'your girl.' And he's no omega."
"Really? Well, there's no other packs anywhere near here other than mine and your fathers. If not an omega, then what? Human? Or how about a fullblood?"
It was neither. And he knew. I wasn't interested in any human. Or any fullblood wolf. "That's none of your business. Now, I must get back to my pack." I stood up and was about to start walking back to the clearing until a large body blocked me. It was Thomas.
"And where do you think you're going?" He growled.
"Back to my pack." I snarled and tried to shove past him, but his body didn't move. It just stood there, like a boulder. Damn he was strong. "Move please."
"Well since you asked so nicely, no." he smirked, and you could see it under his fur.
That was it. That was enough to push my over the edge. I got ready, and it a split second, I launched off my haunches and lunged at him. I bit down at his throat with a loud growl. He didn't hesitate, he fought back. He reached around and grabbed my scruff, flinging my off his back and onto the hard ground, winding me. He walked and stood over me. There I was, laying on my back, in a submissive position, with an alpha standing over me. I leaned my head to the side and shoved my snout in the dirt. I closed my eyes, avoiding all eye contact with Thomas.
"Wrong move there princess." he whispered in my ear.
I couldn't move. I was frozen. Thomas backed up and moved off of me. He huffed and I stood up. He began walking back to the packs, and I followed close behind him, my head hung in defeat and my tail once more clung to my flank. We walked silently back the whole way, and when we arrived back, Thomas went to his pack, and I quickened my pace and went back over to mine. I ran right to Kira's side, and she nuzzled me and a huge wave of comfort washed over me. I always felt safe around her, she was my best friend after all.
