"hey, do you guys know what you're doing for new years?" rachel asked the group which resulted in them protesting and throwing cushions at her.
"gee, what?! what is wrong with new year's?"
"nothing for you, you can easily get a date. you don't have to face the horrible pressures of this holiday: the desperate scramble to find anything with lips just so you can have someone to kiss when the ball drops! man, i'm talking loud!" chandler ranted to rachel, realizing that every woman in the cafe could hear him.
"well, for your information, the guy i'm seeing is out of state, so i'll be just as pathetic as the rest of you, well except evelyn she'll be off somewhere with nathan," rachel scoffed, resulting in the group to glare over at evelyn. evelyn began to sink into the cafe's armchair with her mug still in her hand.
"thanks for reminding everyone," evelyn sarcastically smiled back, basically laid in the armchair at this point.
"it's just that i'm sick of being a victim of this dick clark holiday. i say this year, no dates, we make a pact. just the seven of us, and yes that includes you evelyn," chandler declared and everyone agreed to the pact, annoyed of course.
"y'know, i was hoping for a little more enthusiasm!"
everyone faked their excitement until phoebe was abruptly due to perform.
"um, i wanna start with a song that means a lot to me this time of year."
as phoebe sang through her set, she kept looking over at two men that were speaking loudly and distracting her during her performance.
"excuse me, excuse me! yeah, noisy boys! is it something that you would like to share with the entire group?" phoebe snapped at the two causing the whole coffee place to go silent.
as phoebe interrogated the two men, she actually ended up going home with the guy named david, since he was actually talking about how beautiful she was.
"must be nice," evelyn scoffed as she watched phoebe walk out of central perk with david.
"what about nate?" monica asked placing her mug of the coffee table in front of her.
"oh yeah. you know, sometimes i actually forget about him," evelyn looked down at her coffee awkwardly laughing. everyone including evelyn knew nathan was just a distraction, it was just a matter of time.♡
"pheebs, i can't believe he hasn't kissed you yet. i mean god, by my sixth date with a guy they'd already have names for both my breasts! ooh. did i just share too much?" rachel bit her tongue after getting a little too excited.
"no, i mean if we're on the topic nathan's already n—"
"okay too much information ev," chandler cut her off. evelyn rolled her eyes at the comment and continued decorating the apartment with everyone else.
phoebe began to go on about how david was this smart, gentle, sweet, and amazing guy until chandler quickly cut her off realizing what she was doing.
"wait a minute, wait a minute, i see where this is going, you're gonna ask him to new year's, aren't you? you're gonna break the pact. she's gonna break the pact."
"no, no, no, no, no, no. yeah, could i just?"
"yeah, 'cause i already asked janice," chandler shocked the group.
a wave of jealously hit evelyn and she didn't even know why.
"c'mon, this was a pact! this was your pact!" ross yelled at him.
"i snapped, okay? i couldn't handle the pressure and i snapped!" chandler defended himself.
"yeah, but janice? that was like the worst breakup in history!" monica pointed out, everyone else nodding their heads in agreement.
"i'm not saying it was a good idea, i'm saying i snapped!"
"well in that case, i'm going with nathan," evelyn announced smugly. she hadn't even asked him yet, she just had the urge to be even with chandler.
