after the whole situation with my mom, wyatt was acting a little differently, not a bad different though. for example, when we were scrolling through netflix to find a scary movie to watch. we have movie nights a lot and usually he sits on the opposite side of the sofa and cracks jokes about how bad most of the movie are. but now... now he's cuddled up against my side and is resting his head on my shoulder while i scroll through the movies.

"what about this one?" i ask.

"it looks kinda stupid, but it might be okay." there he is.

"when then, what do you want to watch?"

"you." he says looking up into my eyes.

"oh yeah, i heard that show was pretty good, i heard they might make a second season."

"yeah, that." he says kind of giggling.

"oh, wait did, you mean..." i say and look at him with a smirk.

"oh my god, shut up!" he says laughing and pretends to punch my arm. we hear the door leading to the basement open and move away from each other and i click on some documentary about sharks.

"hey boys, the place looks a little bit nicer. that's good. it's getting a little late so please don't stay up too much longer. jaeden, we have church tomorrow at nine. wyatt, you're welcome to join."

"mom, seriously? it's only ten."

"don't get smart with me, i want you two in bed in an hour. and turn this garbage off, it's filling your brains with nonsense. good night." she says walking back up the stairs and closing the door.

"i'm so sorry about her. we don't actually have to go to sleep that early. and you definitely do not need to go to church with us tomorrow, i usually just sit in the restroom for an hour until it's over." i say as i exit out of the documentary and try to find something else that my mom would approve of. if a wholesome nature documentary isn't up to her standards, this may be a challenge.

"it's okay, my car is at home and my mom can't pick me up until one tomorrow, plus then you can have some company in the bathroom."

"oh?" i say and put the remote down on the coffee table.

"yeah, hopefully the building doesn't catch on fire or anything though." he says, making me giggle. he sits up and climbs on top of me and starts to mercilessly tickle me.

"aH! stAp!" i say while laughing.

"you're so cute." he says while continuing to tickle torture me. he suddenly stops and waits for me to catch my breath.

"can... can i kiss you?" he asks staring into my eyes. i nod and he leans in placing his hands on the sides of my face and connects our lips. his lips are softer than buttercream and i get extreme butterflies fluttering around in my stomach. we fall over onto the couch and he moves his hands to my back and clutches my shirt. i run my fingers through his curly hair and deepen the kiss. he makes his way down to my neck and starts leaving marks. i don't even care that my mom might see. nothing else seems to matter than wyatt right now. it's like we're the only people in the universe. as wyatt is kissing my neck, we both hear the door leading to the basement creek open and he pushes off of me and scatters to the opposite side of the couch. i grab a blanket off the floor and cover myself up with it incase necks bruise that fast. wyatt grabs the remote and starts playing paw patrol. smart move.

"just checking in, are you boys getting ready for bed?"

"yes ma'am" wyatt says.

"yes mom, we're getting pretty tired so we will be well rested for a day of worship tomorrow."

"don't give me that shit, jaeden. good night, boys." she storms up the stairs and forcefully closes the door. what a cockblock. i look at wyatt and he's blushing. i look at the floor,  then look back up at him and he's still looking at me.

"do you think she suspects anything?" he asks.

"i don't know, and frankly, i don't care."
