It was another day at Nelson Mandela House. 16-year-old Derek Trotter had just taken his 3-year-old little brother, Rodney. out the bathtub and wrapped him up in his special Mickey Mouse bath towel. "Here you go Rodders" Del said as he smiled at Rodney as he wrapped him up. Rodney was giggling and clinging onto his Big Brother. Del loved Rodney, and Rodney loved Del so much, he had always been a big part of his life even when there mum was alive, there mum, Joan, had died months before and there father, Reg, had walked out on them on Del's sixteenth birthday, taking Del's birthday cake and Rodney's piggy bank with him and left them with nothing.
Del is now the sole breadwinner of the family, caring for his Grandad and his Baby Brother. Rodney was too little to understand where his Mummy had gone, Del had told Rodney she went to live in the Clouds for a bit and that Del was looking after him untill she gets back.
