Chapter 6
I woke up to the sound of screams and cries. I was still in this room and my leg was throbbing. I had nothing to clean myself up with nor to stop the bleeding or pain. I moved my hand around the floor trying to find Grant. I felt his cold body just inches away from me. I grabbed onto his shoulder and he grabbed my hand clinching it. “I don’t want to be here.” He said. I had no words. I could hear him choking on his. Trying to breathe through it. He was crying. I could feel him holding it back. “I want to go home.” He said. I didn’t know what to say. I was scared too, I was feeling the same way. “I know. I do too.” I said. He turned over and pulled me next to him hugging me against his chest. We lied there for a few minutes before the door opened.
Neither one of us turned around when we heard footsteps heading toward us. The footsteps doubled in pace. Next Grant was being ripped away from me. I screamed and cried trying to keep ahold of him. “Lilly! Please!” He cried. I got up running towards him. “Grant!”
“Get your filthy hands off of him!” This man said angrily. “Why are you doing this? This is inhuman!” I screeched towards him. Then he hit me and I went down. I saw Grant struggling and screaming. As they headed down this hallway I could hear Grant screaming all the way down. Then his screams went dark. I bit my tongue at the sound of immediate silence. When the man left I ran after the door trying to catch it before it closed. I caught the door with my hand. Crushing my fingers. I pushed the door open and snuck out. Along the hallway were doors with chains X’ed on. The doors kept pushing open with people inside screaming and crying for help. I walked down the hallway jumping at every sound. I got to a room and shut the door behind me. I turned on the light and screamed. Covering my mouth with shock. There were bodies hanging from the walls and people lied onto tables, cut into pieces. I walked around looking for a way out besides of where I came from. When I saw a door with a flickering “EXIT” sign I heard voices coming from afar. I ducked down behind a shelf full of jars with red liquid inside. I was assuming it was the blood of these victims.
“We got a new guy in today.” “Let’s see...ah here.” A man with a clipboard spoke about things I never knew I’d hear. I peeked through the crack of two jars sitting side by side. “Well, bring him in!” They dragged a lifeless body into the room and threw him down to the ground. I took a glance and realized it was Grant. I watched him. Cry. I thought back to all the times we had. In the little time we knew each other. When I was upset he was there. He would hold me in his arms. If I lose him. I’m gone too. If I leave without even trying to help him. I’d never forgive myself. I tried thinking of a way. Nothing came to mind.
One guy left the room. This was my chance. I had to fight this guy. I decided to fight with my words since I didn’t believe in physical violence. I stood up and yelled “Hey!” The man turned around and instantly ran towards me. “Wait we can work this out! We can find a way! Just stop this madness!” I tried to get him to stop chasing me. When I turned the corner I fell to the floor. I turned around. He was here standing in front of me face to face. He stood there smiling. I scooted back and back until I reached a table. I slowly stood up leaning against the table putting my hand behind me searching for a weapon. “Little girls don’t understand now do they?” He said to me. I put my hand on the table not seeing where anything was. I slam my hand onto a plank of wood with nails buried in. I tried not to show signs of pain, In fear he'd take an immidiate chance to kill me.
I grabbed the nearest object and swung. I had a bat. Which didn’t do me any good against a man with a crowbar. I swung again and instantly my bat split in half. I looked down and saw the other half on the side of me. He swung at me and I dodged. I’m fighting this man now. My heart pounding out of my chest. I pick up an axe and swing it at him. Blood is draining fast from my stump leg still. I can feel my body becoming more lifeless. He dodges every swipe and parries to the left. I counter to the right and catch him in the neck. I just decapitated this mans head. His head topples to the floor, expressionless. I fall to my knees and catch my breath. I shuffle over to Grant and untie him. He immediately hugs me. I feel so comfortable and safe in his arms now. I pull myself away from him. Look him in his beautiful brown eyes and kiss him. He puts one hand to my face and connects his other hand to mine. “I love you.” He says to me. I listen to his words and repeat them. “I love you.”
