My name is Jodie and l have a best friend called Ellie, we have been best friends since we were 6 months old. Now ill tell you how my best friend was taken away from me forever....
Me and Ellie live on the same street, Lake Street to be precise. Two doors away from eachother. We do and have done everything together, people think were sisters we might has well be. Ellie has tan skin, long brown wavy hair and the nicest big brown eyes. Other than me l have long straight blonde hair with pale eyes. Were two different people that have the most amazing friendship.
l remeber in playgroup Ellie used to steal all my jelly-tots. But it happened all of a sudden. Ellie went away for a while and came back and went away, l never really understood why this happened. It happened all thought school until l was 10.
Ellie was away for about 3 days and l didn't see her l thought she was away on holiday but she would of told me. l asked my mum were Ellie was. My mum told me that Ellie was very sick and was at a place called Parker's Hospital for Sick Children. l thought to myself why is Ellie in hospital, she always is fine with me.
My mum took me to the hospital l remember going up to this big building and was scared because l didn't know what Ellie was like. We saw Ellie's mum Linda at the door and she took us to see Ellie. Linda was telling me that Ellie is getting out tomorrow. We had to get a lift up the ward were Ellie was. When l seen Ellie had the biggest smile on her face, she was so happy to see me. After a while me and mum had to go because it was getting late but l would go and see Ellie torrow.
Has the years pasted by me and Ellie became really close freinds. We were now 14. over them years Ellie must of been in Hospital about 7-8 times. Everytime she was in hospital l used to get the bus straight from school to Ellie, l sat by her bed side day and night. lt came to a point were l was spending all the weekends with her while she was in. But things changed.
Everytime Ellie was in, she was in for longer. She got weaker and weaker. l just thought she wasn't well but she was far from it. She was in hospital when she told me. l got the bus to the hopsital from school like l always did l since it was firday l get Ellie her Strawberry bom-boms her favoutie. l was sitting by her bedside, we were just talking about what were gonna do when she gets out like go ice-skating, swimming and shopping. Ellie just brust into tears and told me she had Leukemia. When l heard her saying these words tears filled in my eyes. She explained to me that she was dying. Can you imgaine your best friend telling you she was dying.... l held her hand and told her its gonna be ok, but it didnt.
When we turned 15. Ellie started to lost her hair and she became blad. She lived in hospital. l knew she was dying l just didnt want her to go we had so much planned to do but now we cant. Every weekend l slept over at the hopsital, everyday l was up. During the summer l was never home. My mum, dad and little sister when to England for 4 days but l wanted to stay to Ellie which l did. The hospital was so nice to us they were like are 2nd family. Seeing children come and go in the ward shocked me but Ellie stayed put.
This day was like any other l was going up to see her. Has l got round to her ward her bed was empty l thought she had dyed and l wasn't told. Ellie's nusre Claire.saw me and told em dont worry Ellie was moved to a room up the ward she took me to her. Ellie liked her new room has it was quiter and she would be able to sleep in it. Has weeks went by Ellie stopped eating and was put on a drip. She told me how she didnt want to die so young. l just told her that God must need her.
Has Ellie got weaker and weaker she stopped talking, but that didnt stop me from with her holding her hand so she knew l was there. l saw loads of Ellie's family come to visit her. Her granny came every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday night after her bingo. Things took a changed for the worst Ellie was getting every sick. Doctors say she wont last the week. l knew l had to be with her when she dyed l didnt want to leave her.
This was the worst night of my life, the night l lost my best friend. l was staying with Ellie and it was a Tuesday night. Everyone had gone home and l was getting ready to stay with her, l went off to sleep. l heard a beep beep beeeeeeeeep it woke me up and l look at Ellie machine were the noise was coming from. There was just a straight line. l shouted for Claire and she came and fixed it and said dont worry about it, it was just the machine. l went back down to sleep, just before l was about to fall asleep Ellie squezzed my hand. l asked her what's wrong she told me that she doesn't want to fight anyone, she just wants to be a peace. Tears were filling my eyes. Ellie contuied to say tell everyone l love them so much and there an amazing family, and you Jodie l couldnt ask for anyone better you give up your time just to hold my hand. i'll remeber you. That momment my best friend was taken from me. Claire walked in seeing what had happened and said lt was her time to go, she give me a hug and told me to wipe my tears away Ellie wouldnt of wanted that. Claire rang her family to tell her the news. Before everyone came up Claire left me for a momment l sat down and held Ellie hand. lt was ice cold.
All of Ellie's family were upset and heartbroken but l told them that she said she wanted to go, she doesn't want to fight anymore, it was her time to go. Ellie pasted away on the 4th March 2009. She funreal was the hardest thing l had to do, l never wanted to burning my best friend. There was so much pain in me that l had just lose my best friend forever. When Ellie dyed l give her half a broken heart on a necklace which l have the other half and it hasnt been off my neck once. l also give her a picture of me and her.
