LUCKY WAS TALKING TO THE OFFICERS WHILE Dave was ringing Spades phone. After three miscalled, he finally answered on the fourth ring. "Dave? Nigga you know what time it is?" Spades deep and raspy voice spoke from the other side of the phone. "4:56am. You know how crazy you look waking niggas up?" He added on. Spades tiredly sat up straight in his bed, the moonlight shone down on his skin intensely. His apartment was awfully quiet, he still could however hear the faint inaudible sounds coming from down the hallway, in Anissa's home.

To be frank, waking up to what sounds like an urgent call didn't sound like fun to him. "I don't give a fuck. Our house was just hit." All the tiredness and groggy energy drained from his body completely. Shooting up from his bed Spades placed him on speaker, placing his phone onto the bedside table. "On god?" He jogged towards his closet, looking for something more presentable. "There's a red x man." Settling for some black grey joggers and a black tee, Spades easily slipped into the clothing.

"Drop your location."

"Thirty minute drive from your crib to mines."

"Babyfood, I'll be there in ten."

Across the hall in the apartment adjacent from
Spades, Anissa shot up from another night terror. Her body covered in cold sweats. She sat up straight, lowering her head into her hands. The navy blue bed sheets coated her body, the moonlight was peaking through the cracks of her curtains. A lump formed in her throat, she decided to quench her sudden thirst, flinging the bedsheets off her body.

Halfway towards her kitchen, she began to crave something sweet and her fridge only consisted of a dozen water bottles and five coronas. Anissa's problem was resolved with the realization that Spades had little water and plenty of juice. She was about to grab a hoodie to cover herself, but the sound of voices concerned her. Anissa yanked her door open at the same time that Spades apartment door opened. He flinched slightly, cussing under his breath. "Sneaking around. That's what we do 'round here?" Spades asked, clutching his chest while taking deep pants. "Why you up?" He added. Her face still remained cold and emotionless, she dressed comfortably in a silk burgundy night dress, it was slightly distracting.

"I was gonna come grab something to drink. You have a lot of juice." She responded. Anissa examined Spades and then nodded her head. "What's going on? Where you headed?" She quizzed. "Dave and his roommate got hit." He finally revealed. Anissa's eyes slightly widened in shock. "Is Dave alright?" She asked panicked. Spades studied her closely, licking his lips quickly. "Dave and his roommate are cool, yea. But Ima go see if it was for real Russ or some random niggas." He clicked his tongue.

"I'll come with."

"Nah Anissa you're not even dressed."

She shut the door roughly while yelling at him to not leave her behind.

When they arrived on the scene, a herd of officers stood in the open doorway, a lot of residences were watching from their apartments with curiosity. Spades ushered Anissa through the heavily crowded hallways. An officer stopped him. "I'm sorry, but you can't go through." The man said. "Nah, Nah it's cool. They live here." Dave quickly came to the rescue, touching the policeman's arm.
