It was that time of year again, the leaves on the trees were changing color and starting to fall off, and making the ground and air fill with color. The air was slightly cooler and it was perfect hoodie weather. Rayne sat on her bed, looking out her window as she drew the next door neighbor’s cat. For some reason, that cat interested her. Maybe it was the boy that it belonged to, or just the fact that it was there…either way, it interested her.
Looking down at her paper, she sketched some more; this time when she looked out the window it wasn’t just the cat sitting there it was ‘him’. There he sat with the cat in his lap. So perfectly still. She had been caught. He knew was she was doing and yet he smiled at her with a welcoming smile. He wanted her to draw him too. But how could she? She couldn’t match those perfect features. Couldn’t duplicate the way his hair fell so perfectly against his face. The perfect hair. The perfect eyes. The perfect smile. The clothes, the teeth, the nose, the voice. Everything was perfect about him. She couldn’t ruin that lovliness with her chicken scratch drawing skills.
She looks down quickly when their eyes meet. Redness. Ahhh!! Why? He can’t see me like this!! She glances up slightly. He was still in the same position as before. Gahh!! As much as she didn’t want to she began sketching. Hey it ws an excuse to stare right? Why not take the chance. She started with the hand stroking the precious kitten so gently. Then the arm. Then the body. Then his face. She must take special care of the face. So perfect…. She gingerly shaded the hair and eyes. So dark, yet kind. She realized at an instant that she was staring to long at him. She could see him notice the same thing. But instead of walking away, there he sat slightly giggling. How she wished she could hear it. Thinking about him being close enough to hear him laugh made her blush. She looked down with a slight smile and tucked a little piece of black unruly hair behind her ear. But when she looked up he wasn’t sitting in his spot. Instead there was a notebook with a note written b ig enough for her to read.
Dear Rayne,
Meeting place! 30 mins!
HURRY!! - Justyn
Rayne bit her lip after reading the words written so neatly, yet so sloppily along the page. Crap. 30 minutes?! That’s not enough time for me to look decent! I ain’t no Barbie doll, but I’m sure as hell not, no nasty either! Without thinking she nodded. A smile appeared on his face and the curtains to his window closed. She sat there for a few seconds, not quite processing everything just yet. Then, she jumping, coming back to the real world and fell backwards off her bed. Humff .. That kinda hurt… She sat up, rubbing the back of her head. So,that actually hurt a lot.. She looked at the clock, HOLY HELL! That took five of the precious minutes she had to get looking decent. There was no way she was leaving this room looking like Chewbacca. Seriously, it was bad.
She scurried over to her bathroom and jumped into the shower, the water was freezing, but the fact that she needed to tame the beast made all thoughts; and feelings, disappear. After taking the quickest shower known to teenaged girls everywhere, she hopped out and wrapped a towel around her small frame. She’d known this kid since diaper days, and every time they met up, things went as following; fall off bed, check; take the quickest shower EVER, check; tame hair so it’s decent, working on it; apply some quick make-up, not there yet; throw on some beastly clothes, will be there eventually; and then hopefully make it to their spot on time.. Occasionally, she was late. Hey, beauty takes time. That is something that boys just do not understand.
Due to the time frame, she pulled out some skinny jeans, threw on some random band tee, and slipped a jacket on to keep her warm, even though she’d sooo much rather have HIM hold her, but you know.. that’s not happening any time soon. She ran a brush through her hair and looked in the mirror. How the hell was anyone supposed to find this attractive? She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. This would take longer than anticipated. Things went a little easier once she turned on some jams and danced around her room for a few minutes. Music always made her feel better. She smiled slightly, then leaned over her desk to get a closer look at her eyes as she applied some eye liner and mascara, oh! And of course just a tad bit of lip gloss. Why was she getting so into all of this? She was about to go meet up with a very attractive male, and she wasn’t about to go looking like some grudge hobo.. hoba? Is there a girly form of hobo? She wrote Hobo? and Hoba? on her large dry erase board, she was still confused about that..
Once she was done, she was checking herself out in the mirror, running her hands up and throwing it around in a mess or straightened goodness. Yup, that’s how she do. She danced around some more and was in mid- running man when out of the reflection in the mirror, saw Justyn standing by his window, holding his sides, laughing his ass off at her. What was so funny?! Can’t a girl look at herself in the mirror? She smiled nervously and waved slightly. How embarrassing! She picked up the paper and a marker and wrote:
Dear Justyn,
Give little ole’ me just ONE more second?
~Rayne
She walked over to her curtains and slowly closed them, then turned around, grabbed a pillow and screamed into it. That was just not fair. After composing herself she made her way out her window and down the old oak tree by the bathroom. She peeked around her, no sign of any cars or people.. Good. She made her way out to the middle of the road where she saw him standing. He had a huge smirk plastered on his face. Oh great..
“So that’s why it always takes you so long?” he asked, he flicked his hair out of his face with one swift motion. God that was hot! A small blush crossed her face, hopefully masked by the darkness.
“Only on the weekend. Don’t get too excited.” This time she smirked and started walking, leaving him to follow her like a puppy.
“Oh, I see how it’s gonna be!” he called out after her, hurrying to catch up.
“Do you Justyn, Do you REALLY?” she grinned and turned around so she was facing him, but walking backwards. It was kinda fun actually. As long as she didn’t fall on her ass.
“Yeah Rayne. I think I do!” he laughed and ran up and poked her sides. She squealed and jumped away. Damn him. He knows that she’s ticklish, that asswipe! That sexy, sexy asswipe…
DAMMIT RAYNE PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER! BAD RAYNE! BAD!
They walked for awhile, down the ally’s and in the shadows. It was not the time to be getting busted. That’s the last thing the two of them needed. Two teenagers alone in a cabin at night.. hmmm? Suspicious much? Rayne’s parents would flip shit! She didn’t even want to think about it.
