Y/N's POV

I walk in, stepping foot inside the adventure camp. Looking around, I accidentally bump into a redheaded boy. I mumble a sorry and then I hear a voice behind me.

"Y/N, I am your camp leader, Logan," he calls out, "Now if you look around, you'll see a lot of interesting things. First interesting thing we have is Carl, right here. He is the black man on the campus. We gonna teach you a little thing about black culture, pay attention, only gonna do this once."

He stands next to a man and they begin doing a handshake. I roll my eyes and cross my arms; they finish the handshake with a snap.

"That's called the black man handshake. Okay, don't wanna see you doing that. Only for black people."

"Yeah, whatever," I say.

He proceeds to introduce me to Conrad, drunk and disorderly.

"Welcome to the jungle, hottie," He slurs.

"Nope, can't call her that," Logan says, "Second of all, put your titties away."

I ignore them and walk into another room.

"You must be Y/N!" A man excitedly announces, "Welcome to Rim of the World Adventure Camp. Right back there is registration; get checked in, get your cabin number and we'll sign you up for some afternoon activities."

"Thanks," I nod.

I head towards where he pointed and stand in line. In front of me is the boy I bumped into earlier. I can see that he is trying to talk to a Chinese girl in front of him.

"Alright, who's next?" Logan yells. He laughs when he sees the girl.

"China?" he asks, "Okay, umm. No, no, no... Ni hao!"

He's making a fool of himself.

"Welcome.. to... camp!" he enunciates every syllable slowly, "I love... Jackie Chan."

The girl glares at Logan, clearly annoyed.

"Do you understand the worlds comin' outta my mouth? Okay?" He says quickly, whilst laughing, "Move along..."

She walks away.

"Wow, China," I hear Logan say under his breath.

I walk forwards. The redheaded boy is next. Logan talks to him and I now know that his name is Alex. He tells Alex to move along and I walk towards Logan.

"Y/N!" He says. He reaches out his hand. "Remember the black man handshake?"

"You said I couldn't do it," I mutter.

"And she speaks!" Logan laughs, "Move along, now."

I walk where Alex is headed and sit down. I see a boy checking out a camp instructor.

"Put it in my box," she says.

"I'm sorry, what?" He asks, confused.

"Put it in my box," she repeats, "Just take it out and put it in my box."

This is hilarious.

"Oh... You saying that in front of a lot of people right now, you sure about that?"

Now she's the one who looks confused.

"Can you put your cell phone in the box, please?" She says.

"Whoo, phone!" He sighs, "Yes, yeah. I thought you meant somethin' else."

I laugh to myself.

"I thought you meant.. uhh," he laughs awkwardly.

"What did you think I meant... Daruish!" She gasps, "Did you-"

"No, no... I didn't think that, no." He lies, "You know what? to be honest with you, I left my phone at home."

"Ah, okay," the camp instructor smiles.

"Alright everybody, time to zip-line!" Logan screams at the kids who are mostly younger than me. We all follow him outdoors where I see Conrad making out with a girl, obviously drunk.

Conrad sees me and tells the girl to hold his flask.

"What's up," he says to me, "You ready? This is gonna be fun."

He clips the rope onto me and I climb up. When I reach the top, I'm greeted by the boy that was checking out the camp instructor.

"Whoo! Hot girl comin' in," He says, "'Sup girl, I'm Dariush."

I cross my arms.

"Is this a layover, 'cause we're making that connection, you feel me?" He uses the worst pick up line I've ever heard. I hear Logan talking to Dariush from behind me.

"That pickup line was the worst, man," Logan says.

"Okay look, I got game. Girls fall when they see me," Dariush protests.

I roll my eyes and hold onto the zip-line; then, I jump. I can still hear Logan.

"Yeah, they fall off the zip line and almost commit suicide."

night-time

I sit down and eat my food when I hear the TV coming from the small room that the camp instructors are in.

"A NASA spokeswoman has said 'the agency's repeated attempts to contact International Space Station are failing,' but stopped short of revealing possible causes."

Kids are running around, happy and playing; I'm sitting alone, taking in the scenery. I stand up and walk around. I see Logan and Carl talking about Toy Story and Alex near them. He somehow looks afraid of the campfire. Weird.

Alex walks away and I see him holding a Rubik's cube in one hand and a picture in another. He looks sad, but it really isn't my business to deal with. He walks towards a bridge and I decide to follow him. Standing on the bridge was the Asian girl that I saw
in the line. She makes eye contact with Alex and they both look up at the sky. I walk to them.

"Hey," I start, "You're Alex, right?"

He nods and looks back up, "What's your name?"

"Me? I'm Y/N," I say. I gesture towards the girl.

She looks at me, silent, and sighs.

"ZhenZhen," she says, quietly.

We all look up and admire the sky.
