I always knew Kaylan was depressed. She had scars up and down her wrists and I couldn’t stand to look at them. It just hurt me more and more every time I saw them or she talked about them. When I saw her writing a note in English, I automatically told her to go down to the counselee. But of course, she wouldn’t go because she thought no one was there for her and no one could help her. The next morning, I woke up later than usual. Actually, I was 3 hours late for school. Angry built up in me because my mom was always my alarm clock, but she just didn’t wake me up today.
“MOM!” I screamed as I picked up my phone and saw a never ending amount of posts on Instagram from my friends. All pictures of Kaylan with captions of:
RIP Kay, I love you so much and I’ll always be there for you
Kay, I loved you and I didn’t want it to end this way
Kaylan, you will forever be in our hearts
And then. A post from the meanest, evilest, most notorious witch ever to be born. Naomi Lerwick.
OMG! Kay! I can’t believe you’re actually gone! I loved you so much. You will always be my little bad bitch.
I suddenly screamed.
“MOM! KAY’S DEAD!” I burst out in tears. She was the only person who had ever cared about me. Ever. Even my rotten ex-boyfriend never even cared how I really was. Instead of saying “How are you today?” she would ALWAYS say “How are you. Like really. Let it all out.” And whenever we were in a fight, she was always the first to say sorry. No matter how wrong I knew I was. The beautiful, amazing, awesome, perfect, caring, and sweet, Kaylan Hoppins, was gone. And I just wanted to be with her. No matter what the cost was.
