M O O N B Y U L

The house felt ten times empty, only the sound of the crickets could be heard as the deafening sound of nature pierces through the three-storey mansion that my family owns.

I was at my parents library which was full of my father's favourite books and most of it are presents from well known authors on the field of automotive, electric engineering and mechanical engineering, architecture. It was like a huge library full of my father's passion.

Whenever my parents are away I would visit the library often. I would gather all read the books that was messily placed on top of his desk. I'd read it and admire at the small writings he had placed on some of the pages. I loved how passionate he is about cars and how often he reads his books daily.

I opened his huge drawer which was where he'd place all his sketches for the future designs of machines and cars. He'd often have yellow post its pasted on the paper with ideas that he's not sure if he'll add or not.

I sighed as I ran my hands on the wooden desk. I looked back on the old days that my father spent here in his desk designing cars the way he envisioned it. Sadly he never had the power to create one.

My father gave up his dream just to follow the footsteps of my grandparents. My grandpa was an architect the best you could find in Asia.

The Moon Architectural Firm took my grandpa years to establish has finally blossomed when my father took over. That was why all his dreams of creating a car company never happened.

I did what my dad did for the past years of his life. I pursued what's best for the family and that is the field of business and architecture. Although what my grandparents didn't know is that I took up mechanical engineering secretly. Trying to fit 3 courses in every semester was a hassle but I had to prove myself.

Even though Im not an exact copy of my dad, I tried to surpass every accomplishment he had just to fill in the gaps and my shortcomings.

I finished both two of my prior courses within two years while I took up Mechanical Engineering for the whole 4 years. It took alot for me to hide it to my grandparents and finally when I turned 22 I was able to established the McLaren Automotive and Sports Car company.

The first 3 years was rough, running a company secretly and hiding the fact that I own it from the media had me stressed for the whole 3 years. Finally my grandparents caught up when they saw alot of documents regarding the McLaren company on my desk at the firm, that's when they started asking questions and investigating me.

Now 2 years has passed since I announced my self as the owner and the founder of the McLaren company and people had been really crazy about the designs I had with my cars.

My grandparents were mad at first because I chose to hide it from them rather than seek help so that I wasn't having a hard time but I told them that if I wasnt that pressured throughout those years, I wouldn't have worked hard and accomplish this much.

Those years were my happiest, seeing my grandparents cried infront of me out of happiness gave me relief. Although my parents weren't there to witness my accomplishments atleast I had them with me all through these years.

I smiled remembering the happiest memory of myself. I sat down quietly on my father's chair and grabbed a bottle of wine. I poured my self a glass as I continued looking at my father's sketches.

A sudden sound woke me from my trance as I heard a loud knock on the entrance of the library. I could see my lawyer walking towards my direction with his suitcase in hand.

"And what do I owe this pleasure Attorney Wu?" I smiled as I pulled out another glass and poured him some wine.

"Im just here to let you know that your fiancé has signed the contract. We will follow the Manoban's tradition on arranged marriage. You'll both be given a month to get to know each other and get accustomed of yourselves. If you have any suggestions or objections, let me know so thay I could arrange a meeting from them to be able to negotiate the terms." He smiled as he sat down and grabbed the wine from the desk and drank it full.

"Kris I don't even understand why you act so formal even though we both know we grew up together." I said whilst shaking my head, he sat upstraight and shifted his foot into a crossed legged position with both of his palms on his knee. Sitting all appropriately and pretty.

"We both know I love roleplays expecially with you Moonbyul-ssi." He said with such seduction and purr on his voice.

"If I hadn't known about you and Tao, I would've fucked you right here on the table." I decided to play along with his schemes, I know it wasn't me who'll give up.

"God I cant believe you said that Byul-yiii. That's disgusting! God good thing I have Tao to shower me with Holy Water from his dick later. MAYGAHD." He said with such conviction as he drank the remains of my wine.

"You started it. Anyways can you hand me I the contract signed by Lisa." He pulled out a paper with completely nothing written on it just the title and the names with signatures on it.

I saw Lisa's name on the lower right of the paper freshly signed by a fountain pen. I could still see the ink glisten through the light. I sighed and placed the paper back to Kris' suitcase.

"You know you could've said no. You're still rich knowing that your company is doing great I heard that its beating the sales of Ferrari and Porsche." I nodded at what he said and it was true, I could mainly live off from my own money but I don't want to just ignore my grandparents last wishes.

"You know I can't do that to nana and pops." She signed heavily as I mentioned their names. He looked at me and smiled as he secured the contract in his suitcase.

"Well just a heads up, I guarantee you wouldn't regret having her as a fiance. I heard she's great in everything, from business to bed. Gurl its like you've won the greatest lottery in life!" He chuckled, I smiled at what he said but something still bothers me.

"But she's straight. I don't even know how she was able to handle this and agree to such terms."

"Well lighten up, you'll figure it out soon. You'll have a month for that. Anyways tomorrow will be the first meeting you'll have with her and her family. Dress to impress Moonbyul-ssi." He winked at me as he stood up and waved me goodbye.

I smiled and montioned him to go. It's late after all, Tao must've missed him already.

I looked at my phone and checked for my messages, there's nothing besides updates from my secretary. I checked my mail and scrolled down to see if there's anything worth reading.

One email caught my eye, Lisa Manoban from Manoban Enterprises.

To Moon Byul-yi of Moon Architectural Firm and Co.

Ms. Moon with all due respect. Dont come to the meeting tomorrow. We both know this isn't right.

Hope you know what I meant.

- L. Manoban

I smiled at the email I read. The nerve of her to tell me what to do?

A few minutes later I saw myself typing my reply to her ridiculous email.

To Manoban Lalisa of Manoban Enterprises and Co.

And with all due respect Ms. Manoban, I do keep my promises and respect the people I had promises to.

With that said, see you tomorrow Lalisa.

Your fiance,
Moonbyul.
