I waited and waited. I waited almost an hour for them to come out of that room. I had convinced Mona and Emily to talk. To work it out. Just at least to hold them if Mona even comes back. It's gonna eat them both alive if they stay mad at each other.
Everyone else is outside in the back. I heard the door open and they came out looking better. "Is everything okay?"I asked
"Yes. I feel better"Emily said
"Good good."
She walked out back and I looked at Mona. "You still leaving ?"
She nodded. We went upstairs. "I still feel bad even though we worked it out. You know it's not my intentions to hurt people"she said.
"I know. But at least you're leaving without her completely broken."
I helped her pack her bags and put them in her car. She said goodbye to everyone and then left.
"Baby you ok"Jessie asked
"Yes. Just still worried about Em' I just need to watch her"I said. She nodded and pecked my lips
"She will be ok with us helping her."I nodded.
The door bell rang and all of us stopped. I went to the door and it was the police. "Oh Ms.Chapman"I said
"Hello Ms.Terry May I come in"she asked.
"Of course."
I let her in and we sat. "I wish you would've called. We were having a get together."
"Oh I'm sorry but I wanna talk to you about Jalon....where is he"
"He's out with my friend in the back. She's sitting in the kiddy pool with him"I said
"Oh that's nice"she smiles
"So is everything ok?"
"Well I wanted to let you know that Jalon's mother was arrested last night..for assaulting a woman. She went to trial this morning and well...she's got 15 years"
"For assault? Was the lady hurt badly"
"Apparently so..but Jalon will have to be placed in foster care"she said
"No! I want him to stay. I'll foster him. Don't take him. Please"I begged.
"ma'am you'll...have to go through the many steps of becoming a foster parent. And that can take forever"
"Then I'll adopt"
"That can take a while too"
"Listen I don't care what I have to do I want Jalon with me."I said
She sighed "Okay..well the only way this can work is if she hands over her parental rights to you"she said going in her briefcase.
"We can go up there and try but she may not sign."she said.
"Oh she's going to sign"I said getting up.
"I'll meet you down there in a hour"I said. She nodded and got up leaving.
I went in the back yard. "Guys we have a problem!"

I slowly swayed my leg back and forth making sure Jalon was comfortable while sleeping. I've been waiting a lot today.
"Ms.Terry"they called. I got up and grabbed the bag and walked to the back.
"She's waiting time talk to you"
They took me in a room and she smiled standing up. "Look at home. He looks so cute"she said
"That's because he's been getting fed properly and bathed regularly"I said.
She frowned "what do you want?"she asked
I pulled out the papers "I want you to give up your parental rights over Jalon"I said
"Why the hell would I let you take my son"
"You abandoned him with a stranger remember? Couldn't take care of him remember? Got locked up ? And if you don't he will go into the system. I'm the safest place for him right now. Not with people who you don't know is completely dangerous. He don't need to be in a foster home with 5-6 kids he ain't familiar with."
She stared at me in silence. She looked down at the paper and huffed. "So I'll never see him again"
"I mean if I feel as if you're stable enough to watch and play with him one day then I will allow it. But he will not be told that I'm not his real mother until I decide he is ready. "
"Fine"she mumbled. I got up and walked out with the papers. I talked more to my lawyer then went home.
"Baby how'd it go"
"good. really good"I mumbled. I held Jalon close in my arms. I will make sure he has the world.
