As I walked down the rickety, old, stairs, they creaked sounding like the screams of the innocent being tortured. When I made it to the kitchen I took my seat at the table in between my little brother, Ryan, and my mom and dad. Ryan is only 6 years old so he's a handful. My moms face illuminated as I took my seat and started sipping on my orange juice."Happy 17th birthday, Eleanor!" my mom chuckled, seeing my eyes light up as she placed the plate of food in front of me. The plate was piled high with all of my favorites: chocolate chip pancakes, hashbrowns, eggs, and bacon.
"My favorites!" I squeeled shoving my face with food.
"Quite being such a pig!" Ryan giggled, mocking me.
"Shut up! I bit back, half kidding.
After I finished eating, I hopped out of my seat, hugged and kissed both my parents, and then frantically ran upstairs to get ready. I stepped into the bathroom, checking to see how big of a tornado had landed on my face. To my suprise I actually looked half decent! Opening the window, the cold morning air brushed against my cheeks, relaxing me. It was a nice, crisp winter morning, the lack of leaves truly showed the snowy, dark sky.
"Thank, God it's winter break." I sighed strolling back into my room.
I turned around locking the door shut behind me. I quickly decided in my mind that I was going to spend my morning taking pictures for my photography class project. We had to pick our favorite animal and try to take a picture of it in it's natural habitat. Lame? I know. I slipped into my closet, scoping the small room for what to wear. I walked over to one of the many racks I had stored in my closet and picked out my favorite plaid shirt. I yanked it on, making sure to button it up all the way, and roll up, and cuff the sleeves. I opened the drawer of my dresser, looking through all my jeans. I finally spotted a pair of light-wash skinny jeans and put them on one leg at a time, zipping them up and buttoning them when I was done. I looked down seeing my favorite pair of shoes, my navy hightop converse, laying on the floor in the corner. I bent down and snatched them up putting on some socks and then laced them up. I stood up and grabbed my purse that was sitting on my desk chair. I clumsily unzipped it, throwing in my phone, camera, and spare cash. I walked into the bathroom one last time, rechecking my appearance. I put on a hint of mascara and some lipgloss, the mascara accentuating my hazel eyes. My curly brown hair cascaded down the back of my shirt, reminding me of how I looked with short hair. It was terrible.
I skipped out of the bathroom and down the stairs. "I'm going out to take pictures for my class project!" I yelled at no one in particular.
"Ok, honey! Stay safe and remember to be home for dinner, we're having your favorite meal and dessert, and opening presents!" she shouted from the kitchen where she was cleaning off the table.
