As I shut the door behind me I was engulfed in the coldness. I pulled my sleeves over my hands and walked down the driveway heading east toward the tree line. The streets seemed abnormally empty. Usually they were always bustling with screaming kids and distressed parents, which seemed weird to me. I continued on, keeping a slow pace as I walked past neighboring homes and parks, trying to keep warm.

Throughout the whole time I walked, I hummed various of my favorite songs that had been stuck in my head lately. It was almost frustrating how many were really stuck in my head. I immediately started smelling the welcoming and musky scent of the pine trees, catching a closer glance of the tree line. Luckily, there had always been wolf sightings in the area, but I had never seen one whilst walking to school each morning. I was almost regretting even trying to catch a picture of one. With my camera hanging from my neck, I walked past some brush making my way further into the forest.

I sighed, thinking. I don't really want to do this project anyway, it seems so boring and like a waste of time in my mind. I could be hanging out with my two best friends right now, Lia and Charlie. Suddenly, I heard the sound of twigs snapping, which pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned around and what I saw made my blood run cold. Standing in front of me was a massive wolf that I swear was the size of a truck, but in reality, I guess really wasn't. It had big brown eyes, which held so much warmth compared to the temperature. The large wolf also had the softest looking fur I'd ever seen on any animal. It was a light shade of brown that was also laced with tones of blonde and black. It looked magnificent. I swear that if I had seen this wolf anywhere else but in front of me I would be mesmerized. I know I wasn't thinking when I decided to put myself in this situation. I thought, god Eleanor how could you forget that wolves can be dangerous creatures. It was radiating so much authority and strength that I felt like a tiny grain of rice next to it.

The wolf carefully made his way over to me, keeping unwavering eye contact the whole time. My hands were stiff and glued to my sides. As it approached he sat down and forced his muzzle into the palm of my hand, asking to be pet. Cautiously, I stroked his head feeling the heat and lushness of his fur against my skin. He closed his eyes and tilted his head back enjoying the contact. I stopped suddenly hearing a howl in the distance. That's when the wolf looked at me, a mix of anger and frustration in its eyes and what seemed to be a hint of sadness. I got a strange feeling that it was trying to communicate with me. I backed up slowly, immediately ready to run. Looking behind me as I made my way further to the edge of the trees, I saw no wolf at all. I was overly surprised with what happened and kept on walking, not caring at all that I failed to get a picture for the photo project. Oh well...
