I stand there, frozen in place. How did he do that? I was ahead of him, right? No. Yes. He was behind me. How? Wait, the sudden realization that I'm probably weaker than he is, I'm home alone, and my phone is upstairs hits me.

Before I can do anything he pulls me closer to him so our faces are inches apart and we are looking into each other's eyes, yet I feel like this is where I belong, here with him. My mouth is left open and I'm pretty sure I look like an idiot. But my expression is still. Before I can even blink we are in some sort of subsurface area and he lets go of me far too soon.

As soon as I recover from him, I look around. There are many people walking around too busy with their own business to notice me. Even though, you know....we teleported here! Is this normal around here?

"How did we get here? This is kidnapping!" I shout even though pretty much no one notices or even cares. A boy about the same age as Hunter comes closer instantly calming me, well calmer than I was before.

"Hunter stop, your scaring her!" he seems angry, even though he doesn't even know me.

"Calm down Chase! She's just a little rattled," he looks towards me "Are you okay?" he asks concern filling his eyes.

"Considering that I was just carried off or teleported or whatever...ugh I need to sit," I manage to utter. Right away Chase finds me somewhere to sit and Hunter looks irritated an slightly angry. And for some reason it bothers me to see him like that, I literally just met him today, if you can even say that.

"I got it from here boys," a nineteen or so year old lady interjects. They both walk away, Chase looks back as if to reassure me that I'll be okay and I believe him in a heartbeat. "I'm Abigail, I'm one of the chief officials around here."

"Hi," I reply shyly intimidated by her title even though she's only two years older than me.

"You might be wondering what your doing here," she says.

"What are you?" I ask surprising even myself. She chuckles leaving me awkwardly standing there not knowing what to do. "Sweetie, you mean what are."

"What do you mean, we?" I ask hoping and pleading that she doesn't mean what I think she does. Am I, one of them? Someone like Hunter that can teleport and do god knows what else. It's been a long night and if they are planing to kill me, no one will find out for a while. I'm emancipated from my drunken mother and my father left years ago.

"You," she gestures towards me "are one of us," she gestures around us as if she's talking to a kindergartener, confirming my worst fear.

"What do you mean, one of us?" I ask wanting to know.

"Our given name is The Shifters," she declares ignoring my question.

"Shifters?" I repeat.

"Shifters," she confirms. "we have powers, abilities if you will," she affirms as if it's completely normal.

"Powers! Is that how Hunter could teleport?" I ask suddenly freaking out, powers! And she said I was one of them! I don't have powers! As if he senses my sudden change in emotions, Chase comes running in pulling me into his arms.

"Abby. Can I take it from here?" he requests. she nods and walks away not affected by my sudden outburst, almost like she was, expecting it?

"Are you okay?" he asks releasing his grip slowly and I tighten mine needing the sensation of calmness he gives me, even if it's just for a little bit longer. He tightens his grip once more and let's go quickly that quick motion calms me. I remember the question he just asked and answer.

I guess, I mean...considering," I reply looking into his sweet, kind eyes.

"Let me explain," he offers and I nod "Our roots don't came from earth don't come from earth we are not 'human'. We are Shifters. We come from planet Pandora, light years away. We have different abilities, but not all of us develop them all. In fact it's vary rare that we develop them all. Actually all who have developed them have disappeared or found dead. We all guess the government got to them."

"Okay. But why am I here I don't have any abilities," I say.

"You do, and we're here to train you in how to use them properly."
