I got off the bus and started to make my way down the road to my house. It was 4pm and very cloudy out, and started to lightly sprinkle. I was annoyed because I didn't bring a jacket and I just started walking. The road to my house was just one long gravel road with trees on both sides. Basically it was just a long drive way, at the end of the long road, was my house and my neighbors. The one road split into 2 driveways, ours and theirs. I started to skip to keep myself entrained as the rain started to come down harder by the minute.I heard a car coming down the street and hoped it had been my dad coming home early so I could get out the rain but at this point it was pouring down excessively, so all I could see was the headlights. As the car got closer, I saw it wasn't my dad. In fact, it wasn't a car I knew. It made me wonder because the only people who come down here are the people who live down here but maybe they made a wrong turn. I skipped faster to get out of the rain. The car got closer and was next to me. It slowed it and started to match the speed of my skipping. The car window rolled down and it was a man. He had grey/blackish hair and dark brown eyes. He asked me with a smile, if I needed a ride to my house. His smile made my stomach feel weird. He made me uncomfortable. I kindly thanked him and declined his offer. I was only two minutes from home so I could finish the walk.
His smile disappeared and he asked me again and told me he ws being nice and that I shouldn't decline people when they are offering to do something nice for you. I apologized again because I was trying to stay polite although he made me feel uneasy. He continued to drive next to me, with his window down, just staring at me. The instinct in my head told me to run, run as fast I could and scream. But I thought "things like this can't possibly happen to me".
He stopped driving next to me, he just stopped his car. And in that exact moment, I ran as fast as I could. He started driving up next to me and I knew I couldn't outrun his car. I knew I could get home but no one was there. What if he got in? I didn't want to be alone in the house. So instead when he caught up to me, I turned left and ran straight into the woods. Theres a little pathway that I know leads to my back yard, sometimes I take it as a short cut. But he didn't know that so I thought maybe I could get there without him knowing I went home and I could call 911.
I ran as fast as I could in the pouring down rain. As I was running down the pathway, I could hear him behind me but he wasn't close enough to see me, I think he was following the sound of the crunching leaves and sticks. I had hoped the loud rain distracted the sounds of me running. I made it to my backyard and could have tried to make it to my neighbors so I wouldn't be alone in the house but they were 5 minutes the other way and I didn't want to risk it. So I ran to my back door and got the key from under the mat but thats when I heard him close by and turned around and saw him coming out of the woods, I don't think he saw me. In fear he'd catch me entering my house, I went around to the other side of my house and hid behind my dads old car that he had been working on.
Minutes passed and I thought he might be gone but I wasn't going to risk it. I kept thinking "How could he possibly know where I am?" "How does he know if I even went home?" "Why would he follow me home if there was a chance my parents were here?" "How would he know I lived here?" I tried to steady my loud breathing while being caught up in my thoughts. Suddenly, I was jerked out of them when the strange man came from the other side of the car and grabbed me with such force. He was so strong, he covered my mouth so I couldn't scream but even if I could scream, no one would hear me.
I was too far from our neighbors and no one was home. He slowly dragged me into the woods. As I was entering the threshold of the woods, I caught a glimpse of my mother washing dishes through the window. I instantly went numb on the inside. I thought "What was she doing home?" "Why didn't I yell?" "Why didn't I bang on the door?" But how was I supposed to know she was home.. my chance was gone, this stranger has a strong hold on me and I'm trapped all because I didn't know my mother was home. He took me into the woods, not very far from the opening of my house, I tried to scream but the second he took his hand off my mouth, he replaced with a cloth over my nose and in a matter of seconds, everything went black.
