Witching Hour

Chapter 1- Realization

     

           My life went back to normal. I got a job and I started dating Ben, the boy who asked me to the dance long ago. I started to forget my time with the House of Fire. The note that I found that night long ago was still in my possession and I wondered who it could have been if not my mom.

 "What's wrong Rachel?" Ben asked.

 "It's this letter." I said.

 "What letter?" He asked coming over to me.

"This one."

 "Well is it from your mom?" He asked.

"No, I thought it was at first but it's not her hand writing."

"Well who do you know who has that type of hand writing?"

 "Taehyung! Now that I think about it." I said.

 "Who?"

 "Sorry babe but I need to go." I said.

     I ran from the room and out into the woods. Ben called after me but I had a head start and I was gone from his sight. When I entered the clearing I saw J-hope and Nam-joon on the front porch. Taehyung and Jungkook were in the yard playing soccer. Suga Jimin and Jin were tending to the weeds that set in.

 "Taehyung!" I screamed.

         All of the men looked up to see who was calling. After seeing me Jungkook smiled and ran. Taehyung face twisted and he stood still. All the others stared in awe.

 "Rachel!" Jungkook ran up to me.

"Hi Jungkook."

 "Why did you leave?"

 "I had my reasons but right now the person I wish to talk to is him." I said stomping past Jungkook.

 "Rachel why are you so mad?" Jungkook asked following.

"Because of this letter the Taehyung left on my fridge a long time ago, causing me to think my mom didn't care."

 "Huh?"Jungkook said and I came up on Taehyung.

 "Why did you write this? Huh?" I screamed.

"Write what?" Taehyung said haughtily.

"This!" I shoved the letter in his face.

"Rachel it was for your own good." Taehyung took the paper and crumpled it.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

 "You were always crying, I couldn't let you cry anymore." Taehyung screamed back at me.

"She is my mother!" I slapped him.

"Rachel, you would cry at night wondering what she was doing if she was at work or if she was worrying."

 "How would you know?"

 "Because I would sit outside your door and listen to you sob." Taehyung said.

 "What?"

 "Yes and I wanted to keep you from getting hurt!" Taehyung said heading toward the house, "I wanted to protect you!"

 "Wait Taehyung!" I started after him.

"Go home, go back to your boyfriend." Taehyung said, "You left us before you can do it again only now we'll all know where you've gone."

"Damn it Taehyung." I said as he slammed the front door shut.

"Rachel..." Jungkook said startled.
