Unbearable Guilt

The next day , when Virat met MS at the airport he could feel that MS was not in the best of moods
He did not ask any question but he was having a weird feeling  all this while.

When he got his boarding pass , he asked MS , surprised,
" We are going to Ranchi, Bhai?"
MS said, " Hmm. Why? You don't want to come to a small town? "
He then walked off to join the queue.

Virat was caught off guard at that.
Then it dawned upon him.

These people from small town.

"Shit." He muttered.

Mahi Bhai is hurt . How can I be so stupid not to understand this.

Virat joined the queue behind MS . He quietly settled beside MS in the flight and kept looking at his boarding card which suddenly seemed  the most interesting object to him.

MS just sighed and closed his eyes. Virat kept looking at him every now and then . He could not understand what was going on in  Mahi bhai's head.
MS did not speak even once during the whole flight and that scared Virat even more.

Mahi Bhai is asleep.

No matter how much he tried to reason this with his heart , he very well knew that  Mahi Bhai was just pretending to be asleep. He could not gather the courage to speak anything even though he tried several times.

After a flight that seemed to be the longest in his life to Virat , they came out at the Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi.
MS was still up with his silent treatment.

The warmth and the love that the Ranchi crowd showered upon them made Virat feel even more guilty .

They were escorted by the guards to the parking area where Mahi bhai's friends were waiting for them .
He saw a smile find its way to bhai's face as he saw his friends. It felt good to Virat to see him smiling like that.

All of Mahi's friends hugged both of them.
Virat was well acquainted with all of them as he had visited Ranchi several times before. It was just that it felt a little different this time.
Mahi bhai's friends and family had always treated Virat like one of their own .

All of them settled in the car and drove towards Bhai's home.
Virat was looking out of the window. Outside the airport, he saw a picture of Mahi Bhai holding all the three cups and smiling .

How precious is this man for our country

That picture was drawn by the kids of a school. It showed how much they loved and adored him.
This picture had always given joy and happiness to Virat but today it increased his guilt. He looked away from the picture.

Soon they reached Mahi's house. His friends took a leave as they had some work. They went and rang the doorbell.

The door opened and the sight before Virat filled his eyes with tears . There stood Mahi bhai's parents smiling lovingly at them . He blinked away the tears and touched their feet .
They both hugged him and patted his head affectionately.

These people are raised in small families.

Slowly , Virat was beginning to understand why MS had taken him to Ranchi.
All of them came inside the house.

"Papa! Virat Chachu!" came the joyous voice of little Ziva.

Don't. Please don't do this to me Mahi Bhai

She came and threw herself in her Papa's arms . She had not accompanied them due to her school.
They looked so happy together.
" I missed you , Papa" Ziva complained still hugging MS
" I missed you too kiddo. But I am here now. Even your Virat Chachu is here . Go meet him . He also missed you a lot" said Mahi Bhai.

Virat realised that no matter how angry Mahi bhai may be with him, he will never distance Virat from his family because he knew how much Virat loves his family.
Virat was on the verge of breaking down

Virat was brought out of his trance by Ziva who was hugging his leg. He picked her up in his arms .
" Why didn't you come earlier , Chachu? I am angry from you" whined Ziva.

He chuckled with tears at her innocence and kissed her forehead.
" Sorry Ziva. I was playing at that time . That's why I could not come . But we will play together now ." he said
Ziva instantly smiled .
" Seems like everyone here has forgotten me " came a voice from behind

Whose voice is it?? You can guess very well....

Also that picture of MS is really outside the airport in Ranchi . It always gives me happiness and peace
