Germany was depressed. No, it was more than that, it was frustration too. It was already 2:00 in the morning and the German had been tossing and turning ever since he had gotten in bed. His mind unable to stop thinking about a certain pasta-loving man.

Germany was in love with him.

Germany's first encounter with Italy had certainly been an interesting one to say the least. He found him hiding in a tomato box, of all things, on the battlefield where they were supposed to be fighting each other. At first Germany could not stand him. He was weak, lazy, weird, very picky about food, and annoying. Oh god was he annoying. But, it didn't take very long for the Italian to grow on him. True he was annoying as all hell, but he was the most kind-hearted and innocent person Germany had ever met. Germany realized that he really didn't have any friends at all. Yeah, he went to the bar with his brother almost every night, but other than that all he did was concentrate on his work. They soon became the closest of friends.

But there was something that confused Germany. After a while, when ever he was around Italy he felt...strange. Like when he touched him, he would get butterflies in his stomach or when Italy smiled his face would turn warm. Germany had never felt this way about anyone before. He told himself that Italy was just a really good friend and it was normal to feel really happy when he was around, but he knew deep down that there was something more. He denied it, though, assuring himself over and over that he was just a friend. Nothing more. Nothing less. But he could only deny a feeling for so long.
