The Werewolf Mate
Chapter 28 * I know it said ch. 28 last time, but I messed up. Sorry! *
What a Surprise
***Lydia's P.O.V. ***
My stomach was in knots as Scott went on about something to do with the pack but not one of the words that were coming out of his mouth was being acknowledge by brain. I really just wanted to get out of here; to find some peace. I pushed back my chair from the long table in the conference room that caused a loud screeching sound as it dragged across the floor and stood up. I kept my eyes glued to the floor not wanting to meet any of the curious glances people were giving my especially Drew's. I have been trying to ignore him lately, well not ignore more like... avoid.
I walked to the door and opened quickly and then shut it never looking back at all the questioning gazes. You could never keep a secret in this pack for long if you tell someone. It'll spread like a wild fire but you wouldn't be able to put this out.
The hallways were deserted as I walked down them. This was the type of peace I was looking for. I wish I could just escape reality, even if it was just for a little while. To just be able to disappear and not be able to be found. It would be paradise in this crazy roller coaster I call my life. This is were I would use the saying "Life is a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up."
My stomach growled at me snapping me out of my dreams, which I wish would come true. I headed towards the kitchen, grabbing a plate from one of the cabinets filling it with whatever food my hands touched. I knew Bella was in the living room so I put quite a lot of food on the plate, enough for us. I walked slowly/sluggishly to where she was but as I was walking in I dropped the plate to the ground. Crap! I picked it up quickly along with the food that was all over the ground. I walked back into the kitchen and put all of it the sink before washing off my plate, then turning off the faucet and heading back to the living room.
I sat down across from her and we just stared at each other basking in the silence. I could tell she was deep in thought by the crease that was forming in between her eyebrows. My best friend, I've missed her so much. I know that sounds weird, that I haven't even left her, but things just aren't the same or as sane as they use to be. I miss how our lives used to be before we came here before all the drama came into our lives.
Bella started to get up off of the couch and I looked down at the ground knowing that she would be able to take just one glance into my eyes and know something is wrong. She turned and walked out of the living room but I could hear her turn around and come back.
"Is something wrong, Lyd?" She questioned. I shook my head saying no but what I really wanted to say was 'A lot of things are, Bella.'
*** Scott's P.O.V. ***
I was in a pack meeting with everyone except the one person that I really wanted to be with now, my mate, Bella. I knew I was saying something but I had already planned on what I was going to say even before this meeting had started and I knew every word I had said in my head, so I didn't have to think about it. I could let my mind wonder, but not too far. While I was saying something about another pack that was near us I was thinking about when I could see Bella next, and to just be able to hold her in my arms with out any interruptions. To just be with my one true love, my soul mate.
The sound of a chair screeching against the floor of the room snapped my out of my peaceful thoughts and made me stop mid sentence. Lydia was standing up not looking at anybody. I knew something was wrong with her but I could tell she didn't want to talk about it either. I guess you could call it alpha intuition. I let her leave the room and continued talking. I wanted to get this meeting over with as soon as possible. I let the words flow out of my mouth and I was able to finish without any more interruptions.
Everyone stood and quickly left, either having plan or to have fun with their mates and family. I knew Isabella was in the living room and I knew no one would disturb her because almost everyone was leaving the house, so I just walked to my room. As soon as I had shut the door behind me I headed into my closet and grabbed a clean pair of boxers and a pair of sweats and put them on the edge of my bed. I lay down beside them taking deep breaths, trying to clear my head.
As soon as I lost almost of the thoughts I was thinking of earlier I headed into my bathroom to take a shower. I grabbed a towel as I let the water warm up. As soon as it was at the right temperature that I like I jumped in and let the hot water unwind my muscles. I washed my hair and body before turning the water back off and getting out. I wrapped the towel around my waist and stood there in the bathroom, letting goose bumps rise over arms as the cold air hit me. I turned in a circle looking for my clothes.
I racked through my brain and remembered I left them on the bed outside the bathroom. I opened the door slightly before pushing it open completely and walked over to the bed. As I bent over slightly to scoop up my things, I heard the door open behind soft gasp, and then a couple of muffled chuckles behind me. I bent up, straitening myself and looked down at the towel wrapped around my waist. It was a Disney princess towel, one that Shauna had when she was little, and my mate had just seen me in it. Great!
