"Beth, there's mail for you!" shouted my brother Percy. "You spaz, can't you see I'm training!"
"Yes I'm not blind now come get it it says its important!" As soon as those words flowed out of his mouth, Beth ran from outside your grab her mail.A small squeal came from her mouth, it was about her resumé for her application to spring training. Her brother looked at her strange, as to say "what is wrong with her?". Beth grew up in a football loving family her brother Percy is hoping to be drafted, but Beth, she loves baseball, she watched the Dodgers play at the LA stadium many times, she would go with her gramps, she taught her family how to understand the plays and workings of baseball as she learned about football.
As she opened the envelope she palms were sweaty.
(Knees week moms spaghetti)
She didn't want to get her hopes up, no woman was ever accepted into spring training, nonetheless in college teams, before her at least. She was a chemistry major at University California San Diego, along with being the starting left fielder for the UCSD Tritons, she's the ace, her teammates with the exception of a few are all supportive to her. She's tried out for a spot for spring training but her resumé got "lost" in the mail. Second times the charm right?"Percy, I'm gonna need you to open it for me I can move, Im too shaky." "Ok, just, chill out Beth, you're kind of shaking."
I hand Percy my envelope for him to read. I don't know how to feel. "Jesus Christ Percy, I can't feel anything right now, read it already please."
"Oh... my... god! BETH!!! You got accepted!" I couldn't breathe, it was the best feeling of my life, I'm in total shock, holy shit! "It says, Beth Andrews, we are extremely excited to have you be training with us this in Arizona for some spring training, we all hope you will show up on x/xx/20. Sincerely your manager, Dave Roberts.' It also has majority of the guys on the roster, Beth! You made it! You're the first woman in MLB!!!"--------
And so Beth was the first woman in baseball, even if she wasn't let's pretend she is for the book's sake, thank you. I apologize for the first chapter being so short, it was around 400.
