One word; Mesmerising. I didn't even care about what was happening around me, not that much was happening anyway. I was completely oblivious to the fact that the waitress had placed my milkshake on the table in front of me. And I barely felt Drew repeatedly poking my arm -cool, another bruise- wanting all my attention. Although her childishness was slightly annoying (Apparently she is supposed to be the 'more mature one because she is older than me by 2 months'), I guess that's what bestfriends do.They accept the bad things, and just love the good things. Luke's good things? Basically everything about him, as far as i was concerned.

"Astrid. Astrid. Astrid." Drew repeated in a low murmur, continuing to poke my arm. Frowning, I looked at her and grabbed her finger before she could do anymore damage to my poor skin. I bruise like a god damn peach!

"What?" I snapped. I didn't necessarily mean to be rude, but could you really blame a 15 year old girl for day dreaming about a gorgeous guy that just so happens to be a few metres away?

"Major dilemma." she whispered, giving me a scared look. My eyes widened, thinking of all the bad things that could have possibly happened.

"Oh my god, what happened?" I muttered, "Has there been a fire? A burglary?" I started to smirk, "Did you're vagina leak again?"

She hit my arm, the exact spot she had been poking which made me wince, "Stop bringing that up, i was like 12! But seriously no, you ass. That waitress didn't give us straws for our milkshakes."

I put my hand on the sore spot on my arm, "And what do you want me to do about it?" I laughed.

"Get us some." she shrugged, looking over too the small pot of straws on the counter. She wasn't asking me to do this, she was telling me to do it. But it was nothing new. I looked in the direction of the straws to see Luke sipping his coffee by the counter. He placed it on the counter beside him, adding some milk to it slowly, his nose scrunched up as if the beverage was too strong, as he then stirred the hot liquid with a small spoon. The clanking sounds of the metal hitting the cup was strangely soothing. Either that or i was getting hypnotised by the circular rotation his fingers moved in, moving the spoon round in a perfect circle.

"I can't go over there," I shook my head furiously, "You go." Drew looked over to Luke, a mischievous little smirk spreading on her face as she looked back to me and wiggled her eyebrows. Rolling my eyes, I looked back over to Luke. He was sipping his coffee again, looking out the window at the trees which made me look too, they seemed so peaceful ad they swayed in time with the wind.

"Don't be such a pussy," she laughed, "just go over, get straws, and slowly slip your phone number into his pocket."

"I don't think that helps anyone." I scoffed, getting up from my chair.

"It helps me. I can't drink my milkshake without a straw." She smiled innocently, knowing I meant about the phone number theory and not the straws. Shaking my head in slight annoyance, I slowly made my way to the counter, stopping half way.

Just talk to him. Play it cool. Introduce yourself. Pretend you don't love his smile or his eyes, even though you secretly do, Astrid. Do it.

I continued to walk and continues to hesitate, he was about a metre away. I was getting closer. Holy shit.

The counter felt cool against my fingers as i stepped close to it, examining the straws, deciding which one to choose. Stupid Astrid, they're all the same colour. I chewed the inside of my cheek, feeling his eyes on me, watching me closely. Shyly looking up, I finally got what i wanted. To look into his eyes.

Oh Lord Jesus, thank you for giving life to this beautiful human being. P.s. Nice work on the ass. Gold stars, buddy.

"Hi." He spoke out into the awkward silence, keeping his eyes locked on mine. The heat rose up in my cheeks and I looked down at the straws, my hair falling down my face in my attempt to hide my sudden strawberry make-over.

I swallowed before squeaking out, "Hello." My feet suddenly became interesting, and I decided to keep my gaze on them. I knew i'd wore the right outfit today.

He stepped a tiny bit closer, watching me look at my feet. I could smell his sweet cologne, and I let it fill my nostrils as i took in the irresistible scent. My eyes momentarily closed as i regained my thoughts, looking up to him.

"Having trouble deciding which one to choose?" he winked, leaning his elbow on the counter and edging slowly towards me, luring me in. I looked deeply into his eyes, blushing even harder before looking to the straws. The 'wide range' of colours puzzled me, and i raised my hand to my mouth. Softly, i bit the top of one fingernail, letting out a small giggle to which he smiled at.

"Yes," i replied, playing along with his joke, "there are so many different colours to choose from." He chuckled quietly, sending a rush of joy through my body. I made Luke Hemmings laugh. Me, Astrid Williams, made this beautiful guy laugh. It's a miracle.

"Oh yeah, I'm having difficulty too. I like this one," he pointed to one straw, "But this ones cool too." He pointed to another which was identical. They were all identical. I wasn't too sure whether he was mocking me now, but honestly i didn't care. Just talking to him was a thrill.

I giggled again and bit my bottom lip, making him smirk. I quickly grabbed two straws, giving him another smile before walking back to my table. As much as I wanted to talk to him longer, I had a feeling in my stomach that was telling me i was going to say something completely stupid and it would scare him off. That's the last thing i wanted.

Drew gave me a confused look, taking a straw as I sat down, "Why did you walk away from him?" I sighed, putting my straw in my milkshake. "Look, I got you a straw, now shut up and be happy." Drew laughed, slurping at her drink through the straw.

"I don't like this straw, can you go get mw another one?" she fluttered her eyelashes. My jaw dropped, knowing what she was doing. "No! No way," I laughed. "I'm not going over there again, I don't want to humiliate myself, thanks." Glancing over to where Luke previously was, my eyes searched the cafe for him. But he was gone. Disappeared. As if he was never there in the first place. His coffee cup still sat on the counter, the only evidence that he had been there. My small smile was wiped from my face as fast as it had appeared, and I looked to my milkshake whilst i put the straw in my mouth, sucking up a mouthful of the strawberry goodness. I would never tell anyone, but I already missed him. I missed his eyes. I missed his quiff. I missed his smile. I missed his dimples. I missed him.
