Nugget basically rolled himself out of bed, taking the thin red blanket with him. He put the blanket back into the bed. It was September 1st. The first day of seventh grade. And 6 more years until they were out of school. He still hung out with Billy. They were still friends. But Billy had other friends. Nugget was normally alone. He sighed, hoping Billy would be in his class this year. Or at least on the same hall. He got dressed slowly, pulling on a dark red turtleneck and a red and orange checkered shirt. Alongside some blue jeans. He grabbed his backpack which was just a simple red color. He liked the color red. Orange came into a second for him.

Nugget had started to walk to the front door. His parents were already at work. They somehow trusted their 12 year old son to go to school alone. Well, he wasn't alone. He usually walked with Billy. He sometimes wishes Lily would tag along instead of taking the bus. Billy was waiting outside of his house. Nugget grinned as he saw him through the glass of the door. Part of him was surprised his cool friend wanted to walk with him. He had the normal brown hoodie on with blue jeans. He pulled on his shoes, which were orange. He rushed out the greet Billy. " Billy!" He basically yelled to him, jumping off the porch. " Hello Nugget." He said with a smile, holding his arms out. Nugget noticed how Billy treated him like a little boy. He did not mind though. He really had the mindset of an 8 year old. Wasn't like he wasn't smart, he was just not mature. Nugget hugged him as soon as he got to him. " Nugget didn't think you would want to be with him." He said, showing back from him. " Nugget, you're my friend. I'm sorry I don't always have time for you." He said as he grabbed his hand. Nugget smiled as he spoke. " Nugget is just jealous sometimes. That's all." He laughed, Billy starting to walk. They both didn't live that far away from each other and they were pretty close to the school. " Where is Lily?" Nugget asked, looking over to Billy. " Our mom doesn't like the idea of a 12 year old girl walking to school. Says she's more likely to um-" He had trailed off. " Nugget knows what you mean. He is not clueless. And he understands." He said, swinging his arms. They had reached the school after a few minutes. He stayed close to his friend. He didn't like large crowds of people. He had tightened his grip on Billy's hand Apparently he seemed anxious to Billy. Which he was. " Nugget, it's okay. What class are you in?" He had said quietly. " Mrs. West." Nugget had replied, looking up to the taller boy. "I think I'm in the same hall as you at le-" Billy had been cut off by someone basically forcing their hands apart. " Faggots!" The boy had said, laughing. The boy was Buggs. Who still picks on Nugget. And occasionally Billy. Buggs had walked away soon after. Nugget was shaking. Over the years he had grown more sensitive. Billy hugged him, rubbing circles into his back. Billy always found a way to calm him down. Billy had pulled back after a minute at smiled at him. " Let's get to class, okay?" He asked quietly, lightly grabbing his hand lightly. Nugget nodded.

Billy had walked Nugget to his class. He had to go to his own, leaving Nugget alone in a room full of people He didn't know. He had taken at a empty square of 4 desks that were pushed together. He placed his bag down. No one had lockers yet. So Nugget couldn't be shoved into one. He couldn't really be shoved into one despite being scrawny. He could fit in the bottom locker if he put himself into it though. He stared at the door.  For at least a somewhat familiar face. One of the few kids that was nice to him. The class seemed to be full other than the seats around him. People knew him. But didn't like him. He was a loser really. He had looked down to  his new desk, giving up hope on seeing anyone he knew. But then, in the corner of his eyes. He sat someone sitting in front of him. He had glanced up, expecting a stranger. But no! It was the pretty Lily! Nugget was saved! Billy on his hall and Lily in his class. " Um- Nugget?" Lily had spoken up. He laughed a little. " Sorry. Nugget is just happy you're in his class." He had said quickly after, blushing slightly. He was really happy she was. He looked around the class again, mostly to avoid eye contact with her. He ended up finding out one of the rich boys was in his class. And the girl who shot lasers from her eyes.
Mrs. West had started to take attendance. Felix was the one in his class and the laser girl's name was Penny. The teacher had called the name Noah. Which was Nugget's real name. It was always awkward telling the teacher you go by a type of meat. As he was about to correct her, Lily said something. " Actually! His name is Nugget." She said said halfway quiet. The teacher raised at eyebrow but wrote it down. Nugget loved Lily so much. She was so amazing. She even spared him the embarrassment of saying his name was Nugget. But she knew his real name now. He was pretty sure even Billy didn't know. Lily's real name ended up being Lilith. Which was cool.
Then the teacher said the words "Ice breaker"
Oh no.
Nugget hated ice breakers.
