...
"Come on, Mom. Let's go."
...
"AH! HUMAN FRISK, MISS TORIEL! THERE YOU TWO ARE!" The skeleton's voice rang loud and clear, just like always. The small human could have sworn the sound waves echoed through the forest's clearing. It seemed as if being on the surface didn't change the happy monster's personality one bit.
Toriel chuckled, walking through the bushes with Frisk at her hand. "Oh, Papyrus, did we keep you waiting long? I apologize, my dear. Frisk and I just had a little chat about what they were going to do now that they are back up on the surface."
"aw, kid, you ain't leavin us, are ya?" Sans asked, his hands still in his pockets nonchalantly.
Frisk shook their head profusely. "Of course not! I wanna stay here with you guys!"
Papyrus brought his hands together and to his face, tears welling up in his eyesockets. He whimpered for a second before throwing his hands in the air and charging for the child. "OH, FRISK!! I KNEW YOU WOULDN'T LEAVE US!!" he exclaimed.
Toriel dodged out of the way as Papyrus nearly tackled Frisk over, wrapping his arms around them as tight as he could. Frisk hugged him back and laughed as Undyne, who was standing by, also began to charge over. She flopped down on the other side of Frisk and put one arm around Papyrus, using her other hand to give Frisk a profound noogie.
The two friends got off Frisk as Alphys stepped up. She raised a finger, looking up at Toriel. "U-Um, sorry to i-interrupt, but, um.. W-what are we going to d-do about sh-shelter?" she asked, concern in her eyes.
"Ah, if I may, I have a good idea for this," a deep voice said behind them. The monsters turned around to face their king. Toriel rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "What is it, Asgore?"
Asgore winced, but stood up tall. "Well, what if we set up tents just for tonight? It's already evening, so we don't have much luck finding a town or village right now. And even if we did, how would we explain ourselves to the humans?"
"Do we even have tents?" Toriel asked, jutting her hip out to the side and staring at Asgore apathetically.
Asgore winced once again.
Frisk looked up at the sky for a few seconds. "Actually.. We might not even need shelter. It looks like the skies are gonna be clear all night. We can sleep on the ground just fine! The grass is soft, and we've got blankets and pillows. We'll be fine! Thanks for the idea, Asgore!"
Asgore smiled sweetly at the human, thankful that they made use of his idea.
"WAIT!" yelled a mechanical voice from behind everyone. The voice was way too recognizable. Asgore turned around and everyone faced the Underground's star.
"We're sleeping on the GROUND?! Ohh, my precious hair is going to get dirt in it!!" Mettaton exclaimed, dramatically as ever.
Alphys stared at him apathetically. "Mettaton.. Just change forms. If you retreat to your box form then you have no hair to get dirty. And it's probably more comfortable, anyways."
Mettaton paused. "...ah. I forgot I could do that," he said, a finger pressed to his chin. "But I can't reach my switch."
Undyne looked as if she was about to explode. "LOOK IN FRONT OF YOU, YOU GLITTERY TRASH CAN! There are, like, what, seven of us that CLEARLY HAVE ARMS and can EASILY flip your switch for you. Like Jesus, this idiot could do it right now," she said angrily, pointing at the tall skeleton next to her.
Said skeleton stood there and flinched as he realized Undyne was pointing at him. He blushed. "UH- WH- ME?? OH, NO, NO, NO, I COULD NEVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT! WHAT IF I RUINED HIS CHASSIS? WHAT IF I ENDED UP BREAKING THE SWITCH? THERE'S NO WAY!"
