Adventures in Babysitting with Bishop

"Hey Ezekiel" you say warmly down the phone "What's up?"

"Hey, so I hate to do this at such short notice but can you and Bishop babysit Mia today? Angel was supposed to but after the ice cream fiasco" he says trailing off

"Of course, bring my baby around, we love having her here" you say excitedly

"Thanks, I really appreciate it" he says hanging up

Finishing your coffee you head out into the backyard watching your husband struggle with the lawnmower, these rare moments of domestic bliss fill your heart with so much love. Laughing you call out "Bish, you might want to pack it up before you break it"

"It's fine babe" he says as the lawnmower chokes groaning he slumps over the handle

"Well, you should pack up anyway, we have a visitor arriving shortly" you reply

"Who?" he says looking up at you puzzled

"Mia, Ezekiel and Valentina need a babysitter today and we are it" you say smiling

"Perfect" a smile spreading across his face "I can give her, her gift" Bishop replies pushing the lawnmower back to the garage

"Ahhhh Bish, did you talk to Ezekiel and Valentina about that?" you reply following him leaning against the garage door

"Yeah, Ez's cool with it" he says nodding avoiding your eyes

"And Val?" you ask

"It's fine baby" he says walking over to you kissing your forehead "you worry too much" walking into the house he calls over his shoulder "I'm just going to take a quick shower"

Sighing you follow your husband back into the house and putting on another pot of coffee on

"Tia Lina" you hear as the front door opens and little feet running down the hall

"No running inside" you hear Ez call out after her

"Hey baby girl" you say sweeping your Goddaughter up in your arms kissing her

"Hey Ezekiel" you say kissing him on the cheek as he pops into the kitchen "Where's Val"

"At home she's sick" he replies

"Is that my favorite Mia I hear?" Bishop's voice calls down the corridor as he enters the kitchen holding out his arms for Mia

"TIO BISH" she screams excitedly wiggling out of my arms and into his laughing he sweeps her up and throws her into the air

"Have you gotten bigger and more prettier since last time I saw you?" he asks her

"No, I just saw you yesterday" she replies giggling

"Well I think you have" he says kissing her again

Laughing he puts Mia down and shakes Ez's hand

"Thanks again for doing this, I feel like I don't really need to tell you guys this, but ice cream isn't a lunch food" Ez says looking at Mia

"Yes it is daddy" Mia says pouting

"It's really not" he says kneeling down hugging his daughter "be good sweetheart" he says kissing her on her forehead

"Bye daddy" she says waving goodbye

"I'll be back in a couple of hours" Ez says "thanks again"

"It's fine, just go" you say shooing him out of the house

When he's gone Bishop turns to Mia "Hey sweetheart, I have a present for you, want to come see it?" he says smiling

"Bish, no" I say

"Yes I want a present" Mia says excitedly at the same time

Both of them look up at me with their adorable puppy dog eyes "Please Tia Lina?" she asks

Groaning "Fine" you reply

"Yay" they both exclaim, Bishop taking Mia's hand and the three of you head out to the garage

"Close your eyes" Bishop tells Mia covering her eyes with his hand

Walking over to the far wall he stops her in front of the tarp cover

"Okay, one, two, three" he says counting down and pulling the tarp off to reveal a sidecar

Looking puzzled Mia looks up at Bishop "What is it?" she asks

"It's a special seat that goes on the side of my bike and you can ride in it" he says excitedly

"Really?" Mia exclaims throwing her arms around Bishop "I can go on rides with you guys?"

"Yep, and I got you this" he says reaching over and pulling a pink helmet out from under the bench

Mia holds the helmet in her hands turning it over tracing the paint "This is like yours and daddy's" she says softly

"Do you like it?" Bishop asks her

"I love it" she says seriously and nodding her head

"Tio Bishop?" she says looking up at him

"Si mi amor" he replies

"This is the best gift ever" she says throwing her arms around him

Kissing her forehead "I'm glad you like it princess, now lets get you ready for a ride"
