The smell of pines fills me and wraps around me like a blanket, and I have to breathe through my mouth so I don't inhale the scent too much. It was too close to that of Percy's.
Percy
My wolf whimpers at the mention of his name and I subconsciously press a hand to the area on my neck, where my mark would have been. Where my mark should be. Tears threaten to fall and when they run down the already damp cheeks, I don't bother to wipe them away. The bag that I had which held my small amount of belonging was draped over my shoulder and with each step, grew heavier. Adrian's necklace was somewhere on the floor in my old room, and at this moment that was the farthest thing from my mind.
Percy's rejection was fresh on my mind, as it should be. It had only been a week since I left the pack, and they were bound to know I had run away by now.
"How could I be mates with a murderer?" His words run a tremor through my body and I fall to the ground, crouched with my body heaving as the sobs shook my body uncontrollably. His place blue eyes flash in my head, the same daunting eyes that have become the source of my nightmare since I left him. Closing my eyes I whimper when they're still there. How am I supposed to move on when he's everywhere?
Sniffling, I pause when I hear footsteps further in the distance from me. Snap! Three men-their scent caught my nose and I curse myself for being emotional enough to block out my senses. Quickly standing up, I grab my bag and shoulder it so that I can run. Shifting, I hold my bag in my jaws and subtly smell the air while I start running towards the border. Close. I hurry my footsteps, but even I knew it was futile. I may be a good fighter, but it was only enough to ward my brother off me sometimes. And he was beta. But these wolves were men, three of them and they were most likely trained better than me. Not to mention they could call for more backup.
I'm able to get a couple hundred years and I take a small break, pausing to drop my bag on the floor and observe my surroundings. My right paw is bleeding, and my fur is definitely matter with sticks and dirt. I could imagine my human form wasn't any better. Suddenly catching someone else's scent I whip around, alert to fend for myself and I hear something behind me. Turning again, I come face to face with three men.
They're easily in shape and can over run me, and simply dominate me in any way.
I wasn't getting out of this alive.
Looking at them, I observe as they stare at me cautiously. Their green, brown, and blue eye watch my every step and I watch theirs. "Look, we don't want to hurt you," the man with blue eyes approaches me, his hands out. Looking into his eyes, I whimper instantly seeing Percy and stumble back.
"Don't touch me!" I cry out, swiping a leg under me and watch as he unexpectedly trips. Growls fill the air from the other two men but the blue eyed man holds up a hand and they listen. Sniffing the air I shrunk when I catch scent of his power. It's strong, strong enough to have me trembling but he wasn't strong enough to be an Alpha.
Beta.
Adrian.
As he steps to me, his hands out, my mind flashes.
"Why can't you leave me alone Leila." my brother growls at me, irritated.
"But..but, but I can't sleep!" My younger self wails and I sniffle. It was two weeks since mom, dad, and Briana left. My nightmares were filled with Briana's face, mom's blood, and dad's eyes. "I see them everywhere Adrian." I whimper.
My brother tenses and turns to face me, his eyes so dark, I hesitantly step back. Was he going to hit me again? "Good, you deserve it!" he snaps, his eyes hung with anger and grief. I furrow my eyebrows.
