  'jiminieee,' taehyung sings.

jimin sighs. 'learn to text, asshole,' he snaps. there's a shocked silence on the other end of the line. jimin immediately regrets it. 'I'm sorry,' he amends quickly, 'I didn't mean it, I swear.'

good thing taehyung holds grudges for all of two seconds. 'yeah, okay,' he says a few moments later, and he sounds only slightly sulky. ' ok, so you know jin hyung?'

'my employer of three years? yeah, I know him,' jimin says. taehyung pauses mid speech.

'seriously, what's with the attitude today?' he scolds. he waits for jimin to repeat the apology and jimin doesn't, because today he's feeling petty. there's a long silent standoff, which jimin wins at the end because taehyung likes talking too much.

'anyway,' he says loudly, 'I found something out. about his roommate, yoongi. he's like, doing some illegal shit.''

jimin refrains from telling taehyung that they're all doing illegal shit, literally every one he knows, and lets him talk. taehyung continues rambling about cat tails, and perverts and chips and moon children for the next fifteen or so minutes. jimin doesn't know exactly what was said, as his comprehension turns off literally five seconds in. it's not taehyung's fault, jimin is just out of sorts today. somehow, a person managed to get into 'warehouse' number 15 without triggering any censors for more than five minutes, which is almost impossible'. it was his night off, and yet, he has to drag himself out of bed and deal with both an intruder, and a panicked jungkook screaming in his earpiece at one in the morning.

jimin realizes, somewhat belatedly, that taehyung has stopped talking and is waiting for an answer to some question. 'um,' he tries, 'you're probably right, I guess?'

'I thought so,' he replies. 'okay I have to go. byeloveyou!' jimin takes the cue to tell him that he loves him more, but the line gets cut off. it's just as well. all jimin wants to do is sleep and sleep and get paid on time and not have to keep so many secrets.

&&&&&&

if you were to give park jimin a villainous origin story, it would be kind of boring. his parents weren't overprotective but still supportive of everything he did. they were supportive when he wanted to take ballet classes instead of baseball, and they were still supportive when after nearly six years of dance school, he quit to become a police officer. there, he expected to be picked on for being too short or too feminine, but he wasn't, or at least more than he could bear. he worked as a desk cop for a while and it was boring, like everything else.

since everything was too easy for jimin, he tried to make it hard on purpose. he joined bighit, the exact opposite of his previous job. he wasn't happy just being security (even though he was paid almost twice as much now), so he worked his way up. allied himself with the right people. namely, mister kim and his pretty boy actor son.

mister kim was like a dragon, fierce and huge but drunk on pride and power. for such a powerful man, he was easily flattered and manipulated. jimin got to know about things, like what happened to his wife, and the secret project he's working on, that's supposed to keep him in charge forever. he knows which warehouses are 'marked', extra high security. he doesn't know it all, but he knows more than most. this includes kim seokjin.

see, he feels bad, sometimes. seokjin is a good boss. he treats him with respect and trusts him, maybe a little too much. jimin is occasionally tempted to tell him that his father is just using him, and will throw him away at the first chance he gets. (throwing him away is not just a figure of speech. mister kim's wife and former business partner was allegedly thrown off the roof of a twenty-floor building).
