july 31st 1914, small heath, birmingham
ANNABELLA QUICKLY packed her suitcase as she silently cried, her heart shattered in a million different places. Her brother, and her boyfriend, EX-BOYFRIEND, was left to fight in the war. Tommy has broken up with her before he left, saying, "I don't deserve you", and "You'd be better off without me", and that, "It was only fun".
When her suitcase was packed she quickly ran down the stairs and out the door, towards Charlie's yard. Everywhere reminded her of him.
When she got to the yard she seen Curley, in the stables feeding the horses.
"Curley", she said as she walked towards him, "Do you know where Charlie is?".
"Uhh...", he said looking around, "Yes he was over by the boats, packing them for London", he smiling at her.
"Thanks, Curley", she said smiling but before she went she noticed the horse he was feeding in the stable.
"She's a beauty", she said looking towards the horse smiling as she put her hand out to pet her.
"Yes, yes she is, Tommy got her last week, so beautiful, and calm".
"Does she have a name", she asked as she still petted her.
"Bella... that's what Tommy said...".
She quickly stepped back from the horse, looking at it, he named it after her..
"Are you ok Miss. Anna", Curley said concerned as he noticed her dazed face.
Her face quickly darted from the horse to Curley and she answered, "Uhh yeah sorry... I better be off then, thanks Curley.. you've been a great friend, and like an uncle to me".
She pulled him into a hug and she held on tight not knowing the next time she'd see him.
"Yes... Miss. Anna..", he said with a smile as the both let go of the hug.
She quickly ran over to the canals and followed the noise meeting Charlie.
"Charlie", Anna said making her presence known.
He quickly looked over with caution before he noticed who it is, "Ah Annabelle.. don't scare and old man like that", he said as he packed the boat.
"Sorry Charlie".
He then looked at her with sorrow, " I heard about Tommy, he's stupid full of crap", he said before she cut him off, "I'm not here to talk about Tommy, I was wondering if I could get a boat ride to London?".
"Your leaving? It this because of-".
"I can't stay here... it reminds me of him to much..".
"You don't have to leave-"
"Look Charlie I'll get there someway so I'll be-"
"No.. were leaving tonight... 6:30..",
"Thanks Charlie", she said before she strutted off, going to say goodbye to the only family she knows.
