The title is deceiving, I'm just ranking the gens. Here we go.
7 Gen 1
I was not a 90s kid. So I never got the nostalgia of these games. They are really good Gameboy games, but compared to the rest of the other games, it's just not that good. Some of the designs are almost as garbage as trubbish, and the battling was pretty bad.
6 Gen 6
The intro to 3D and Mega Evolution was pretty cool, but besides that, these games really don't offer anything else. The legendary Pokemon are the worst out of any gen, and the story is kind of dark for a Pokemon game. And there's Klefki. However, ORAS was a pretty good remake, so that's all that stopped it from getting last.
5. Gen 5
The move to only include new Pokemon was pretty dumb. We'd gotten used to seeing more Pokemon with each new gen, and then they took it all away with one of the weaker designed gens. The 2 titles brought back the old Pokemon, but wasn't as good as the originals in any other way.
4. Gen 3
I missed these titles as a Wii and DS kid, but now that I went back and replayed them, there are actually pretty good titles. The gen had a few bad Pokemon, but there were lots of great Pokemon too. And I don't see why everyone hates Swalot.
3. Gen 7
Gen 7 was a really great gen. Although it is one of the weaker gens in Pokemon design, (looking at you Comfey) but the gameplay is just so amazing. It introduced Z Moves and Ultra Beasts, which were something new, and pushed the 3DS to it's limits with one of the best games.
2. Gen 2
I love gen 2. All the new concepts it introduced made Pokemon so much more fun to play, so I've heard. It has introduced my favorite starter, Cyndaquil, the best legendary in my opinion Lugia, the powerhouse know as Shuckle, and of course, the GOAT. This gen has by far the best design, and if it weren't for their fantastic remakes, it would take number one. And I got the opportunity to do this to it for Wattpad:
1. Gen 4
This gen is not the best because of DPP. And don't get me wrong, DPP were fantastic games, and Platinum is the best 3rd game in any gen. DPP just took what had already worked without adding a lot of new stuff, and still nailed it. And then we get to HGSS. SoulSilver was my first Pokemon game, and extreme nostalgia asides, it's still the best Pokemon game. It redid the already great gen 2 and added gen 4 battle mechanics and new evolutions. And the best thing: Dunsparce can now follow you around.
Note: I didn't add the let's go games, because they aren't they're own gen yet, just remakes.
