- Chapter 1 -
"Natalia, wake up!", I heard as someone whispered in my ear. Then, I felt my beloved comforter being pulled off of me. I shivered as the cold air suddlenly hit me. I groaned and attempted to pull it back on my body, but didn't get very far. I knew my mom was strong.
"Natalia get up, NOW!! It's your first day of school!"
"Yeah, I know that", I sighed, "what time is it?"
"It's 7:53"
"OH MY GOODNESS, I NEED TO GET READY!!!"
I shooed my mom out the door and grab my towel off the hook it was on. I took a quick shower, using my favorite Dove soap. Then I frantically dried myself off, rushing to my closet. I pulled out a beige, floral dress with little sunflowers on it. I matched it with a lightish brown cardigan and some brown boot heels. My hair is naturally very curly so I just parted my hair and left. I never really wore a lot of make-up. The only thing I wore was this really pretty, light pink lip stain, a thin line of eyeliner, and mascara. I added my diamond studs that my Grandma left for me before she died and a silver heart necklace.
After about thirty minutes I was ready. I grabbed my black leather bookbag and was ready to go. I found my mom in the kitchen with a frown on her face, I knew something was wrong. My mom and I can read each other like an open book. I admit it, we didn't ALWAYS get along, but we were there for each other whenever we needed. My dad left us when I was about three years old. Ever since it has just been me and my mom. It's hard for her to pay for the house and for our living expenses, I had to start working since I was sixteen to try to help to pay the bills, at the H&M in Greenview Mall.
"Sweetie...", my mom said interrupting my thoughts.
"Yes mum?"
Then something happened that is always the worst thing to see. My mom broke down in tears. Through her cries she finally managed to get out that we needed to cut our cable and internet. I went over to where she was sitting. I gave her a huge hug, and we stayed there for a while, just enjoying each other's company.
"Mom, look at me..."
Reluctantly and slowly she raised her head to look at me.
"It's going to be okay."
"Natalia, listen to me, I never meant for you to have to grow up so fast. My life's a mess right now and I'm so sorry that I had to drag you into this. You're my daughter Lia, I just want what's best for you. I just feel like I can't provide that for you," my crying mother said through sniffles.
I let out a small chuckle, "Mom I'm fine, I'll get another job. We're going to get through this together mom. We don't need cable and t.v., as long as I have my guitar and piano, I'LL BE FINE!!! We're in this together, I love you."
"I love you too sweetie" she said as she lightly kissed my cheek, "I seriously think you should get to school love, you've got fifteen minutes."
"LOVE YOU MOM, BYE!", I said over my shoulder as I ran out the door. My school wasn't too far from my house. If I hurry I'll be there right on time.
Five minutes later I was standing in front of Los Angles School of the Fine Arts , the performing arts school I attend. I can't believe this is senior year, I'm a senior! I've had so many memories here! Like pranking Mr. Smith and that time we had a jam session in Mrs. Ryan's class. I looked at the time on my phone and saw it was 8:28. I've got two minutes to get to homeroom. Looking at the building that brought me happiness, sadness, and simply enjoyment, I realized this was the beginning of the end. Well, here goes nothing. I walked into that building with a huge smile on my face, this was home.
