Kat POV

   “Well, she was her best friend anyway.” Kris said, shrugging.

             I was his sister’s best friend? Wait, did I ever have a best friend? The only friend I remember having was Darling, a doll I had I made come to life. This girl had to be nuts. I could tell she was the type to slip on the peel of her own banana. I looked around for someone with answers. Natt was playing in Ash’s hair, looking for something he lost in there. Then my sight fell on Ash. I searched his eyes, his cold, dead eyes that wanted explanations I couldn’t give him.

                “Hey!” the girl screamed at me. “Don’t you dare stare at him for too long! Back off, he’s mine.”

           I couldn’t help but laugh, though I kind of pitied her. She probably threw herself at him, but he would never look at her.

                “He’s not interested in you and he’s not interested in either of us so just cool down okay.” I said, really wanting to end this. My stomach was making more noise than any of us.

                “What are you trying to say?” she glared at me. “He loves me.”

                “That’s impossible dear.” I gave her a pitiful look.

                 “And why is that?”

              “Well,” I started. “For one thing, he’s gay.”

              I saw her mouth drop open. I wish I had a camera, her expression was priceless.

               “And for another,” I continued, “he’s dating Natt.”

            Everyone was looking at me with their mouths open and eyes wide. I knew I didn’t brush my teeth yet, but, it’s not my fault. I didn’t exactly have a toothbrush.

Kris burst into laughter, “He’s not gay! He’s as straight as the hair on my head.” And just to be clear, the blonde hair on her head was very straight.

I looked over at Ash, clearly failing to hide his amusement. Then, I remembered his face when he saw me naked this morning. A guy actually saw me naked. A guy I trusted...

“This morning…” I said, blinking away tears.

“Your body wasn’t that special. Don’t worry about it.” And to top it off, he smiled.

 All that trust I had for him melted away and was replaced with hatred. Why did he walk in on me? Why hadn’t he said sorry? I felt the tears well up in my eyes when it hit me. He only wanted me here for himself. He was just like all other guys and I wasn’t safe here. If I knew he was who he is, I would have escaped a long time ago. But this is now, and I did the only thing I knew to do.

Ash’s POV

My eyes followed as she ran down the stairs and I heard the door close. I let out all the laughter I had been holding and rolled on the floor with Kris.

“Hey,” Natty called to me, “Why’d she run off like that?” I could see the concern on his face.

“Oh, I saw her naked this morning after she took her shower. I guess she’s just embarrassed.” I said giggling like some girl.

                “Go get her.” He glared at me with cold eyes.

                “No, I don’t want to.” I said, taking Kris to my room.

             “Yeah, that girl should just freeze over. Leave her alone.” smiled Kris.

       That stupid girl was always saying something retarded. Now, I had to go, just because she didn’t want me to. I turned and ran downstairs.

                “Dude!” I called to Natt, “I’ll be back”

I think I heard Kris call me, but I didn’t care. I just shut the front door.

Kat’s POV

      It’s so cold out here, how could a kitten survive all this? I was rescuing Sushi from the falling in a river. I wasn’t the best swimmer, but I think I’ll make it to the shore.

      It’s been two minutes. I swam hard against the current, but the river bank just drifted further away and I got extremely tired. What was going on? Wasn’t it right in front of me a few seconds ago?

     Usually, when people die they see their life flash before their eyes, but I saw movies. You know, old time movies that we all know. I saw Simba from The Lion King, Dory from Finding Nemo and Ariel’s Prince from The Little Mermaid came and scooped me up in his arms as I blacked out.

Ash’s POV

                I wanted her to wake up. Yeah, sure, I wanted her to be okay, but I really needed to pee and it was cold out here. Natt told me not to move her so carrying her back home was not an option. To make matters worse, the stupid cat she had with her was lying on my bladder. I was going to explode.

                Then, for the first time ever, I was happy to see that weird guy. Natt came over to me with a camera.

                “Sorry I took so long,” he said, breathless, “I just needed to take a picture of this adorable kitten.”

         He wasn’t wrong the cat was adorable. He reminded me a lot of myself.

          “Come here, Rain.” I picked the cat up.

           I noticed Kat was awake, and I smiled at her. Thank God she was okay.

         “His name is Sushi and don’t touch him” she said coldly, taking Sushi away from me. “I hate you.”
